Bring in your old shoes, because the experts at Runners Den will analyze the wear pattern and find a shoe that will work best for your body mechanics. All of the sales people that I have ever encountered are runners themselves and understand what runners want and need. The staff is always willing to take the time to listen to you and let you try out every shoe model in the store if you wish. Great people = great store!
PROS: Expert staff
CONS: Selection of supplements (gels, drink mixes, etc.)
Right in the heart of Sun Devil country, this running shoe store has very friendly staff and excellent prices (buy shoes and get a discount on clothing). My only complaint is that on two shopping trips they didn't have my shoe size in my favorite model. However, I still use and recommend their store.
PROS: Great staff, experienced runners, good prices
CONS: Stock seems limited for popular shoe model
This is a typical hair salon that has expanded their space to offer massages, facials, and spa pedicures. My husband got me a package (Facial, Massage, and Pedicure for $165) for mother's day. They are organized and their providers were all very good. Their place isn't posh, but they do their work well. Prices are also good. As a member of SpaFinder, you can also use the discounted Costco giftcards at Carolynn and Company.
PROS: Good Service
CONS: Decor, Crowded
Del Rey is the best dry cleaner I have ever used. Their prices are amazing (currently $1.75 per piece) and the clothes always come back perfect. Their service is friendly and the turn-around is also great. Don't go to an overpriced cleaner when Del Rey is just as good and cheaper.
PROS: Service, Price
I saw Dr. Dearth for a few months. He uses the activator technique which is low-impact and low-stress on joints. He is really nice and so is his wife. His staff is good and generally were able to handle questions and concerns. While I did find someone who better met my needs, I would recommend Dr. Dearth to others.
PROS: Specialized Techniques
Dr. Judge was a fairly good chiropractor who I saw for a few months. I never saw major improvement, but her technique was different and she was friendly. My big problem was with her receptionist. Billing was rarely correct and I ended up leaving because of it. Even if I was occasionally incorrect, she was unable to understand my questions and concerns. I would recommend Dr. Judge if her staff has changed dramatically.
PROS: Decent Chiropractor
CONS: Office Staff
Non-chain jewelers are hard to find sometimes and Dicksons is worth a drive. I've used them for repair, redesign, and for purchasing new jewelery. They have long-time staff members who are willing to help you find quality jewelry-not just something that looks good in the right light.
PROS: Local, Full-Service
How many people go to a chain jeweler without ever looking at their local store? The quality at most local stores is much better for the price. Paradise Jewelers is my local jeweler. They are willing to help fix watches, replace batteries, repair bracelets, and reset stones. They also have a nice selection of jewelry for sale. They will take the time to help you pick out something special. Give your local jeweler a try, you will be surprised.
PROS: Knowledge, Prices
All of the theatres at the new Mesa Arts Center are beautiful. Everyone should attend at least once performance there. You will be amazed at how pretty the campus is and the technical abilities of the theatres. I have seen a few performances, including those by the Mesa Youtheatre. Their performances are expecially fun. They are produced by and for youth. Take your kids and enjoy the show!
I have both bought tickets from Jacks and sold unneed ones to them. Their prices are, of course, higher than face value. However, they seem to be fair. They have tickets to almost every event and generally have great seats. They are friendly to talk to when I've called with questions. If you need tickets to an event, don't risk Ebay, go to a local dealer.
PROS: Local, Reputable
