This eatery is one of the major reasons that I miss living in Ithaca, NY. Located not too far from the heart of the city, this restaurant and raw bar features some of the best cajun food I've had!
There's almost always a wait though, and they don't take reservations. But trust me the food is sooo worth the wait! Their Po' Boys are simply legendary, and the desserts always feature seasonal items that make them that much more special.
Portion sizes are extremely generous, which makes the pricier fare a good bargain. And to add to the Mardi Gras feel? They even give you beads!
This local ice cream/ quick service establishment is a fine fine fine place for getting ice cream or a quick bite to eat. I was reminded to write this review today, as I drove down Erie Blvd (where they are located) and saw some new signage out front. Can't wait for spring to get here!
In addition to their great ice cream, they also have GREAT deals. Every Tuesday you can get Hoffman Hots 2/$1 (another local favorite!), which makes this my every Tuesday lunch spot during the summer months. I mean where else can you get lunch for 50 CENTS in this day and age!
If you're ever in Rome, NY during the summer months, I highly recommend stopping here, especially if you have young ones, or are on a budget. The food is great, only to be topped by the affordable prices!
PROS: CHEAP meal on Tuesday!
CONS: Only open in the summer - bummer!!
Out of all the chain style restaurant this has to be one of my favorites. With a few other locations, this restaurant is one of my favorites in the local area. Featuring a diverse menu with everything from burgers, mexican, and homestyle diner fare.
My favorite thing about this place though, is that they bake all of their bread fresh on site, and their fries are simply the best - as they're also made homemade. As evidenced by the huge stacks of potato sacks inside the restaurant. Another great addition are the homemade cookies and brownies available for purchase when you check out. A great way to cap off your meal!
Writing this review has certainly made me have a craving! I might have to stop in this weekend. Yum!
PROS: Fresh baked bread, and homemade fries - YUM!
I guarantee that the inside of this restaurant will charm even the coldest heart! Lots and lots of memorabilia that will strike up the oddest conversations!
This local favorite has a widely diverse menu to please even the most discriminating tastes. If you're local and have ever been to Carmella's Cafe, the tastes are pretty similar.
My favorite is the piping hot bread, with super tasty garlic butter that they bring to you while you wait. It takes some serious willpower to not stuff yourself on that while you wait!
The crowds can be large on the weekends, but it's worth the wait. Prices are affordable, and portion sizes are very generous!
If you live in or around Rome or are here visiting, you MUST go here. Billed as the original Erie Canal Tavern, this local favorite is a must visit.
A very cozy atmosphere combined with a great menu consisting of steak, seafood, and great soups and sandwiches make this place a local legend.
Prices are affordable, but the food is much better than you'd find in a comparably priced restaurant. A great staff and solid menu makes this fine establishment one of my favorites in Rome.
Waits can be a bit longer on Friday's, but trust me it's worth the wait!
PROS: Great Food - Great atmosphere :)
