When we moved here, a neighbor told us about this "must go" place for cutting your own tree - Bob's Trees. So we went, and it has become a family tradition every year. It's fun to select from a large variety of trees [we switch each year] and we love the chosing and cutting and hauling part. Especially with the open landscape, the snow and horsedrawn sleigh. Of course, they have precut trees too, if being in the great outdoors is less to your liking. The best prices around too!
PROS: Large selection
CONS: It is out in the country - not so easy to find the first time out
This is a wonderful place to spend a rainy afternoon in downtown Saratoga. Or if you love old LPs, this is a great place to pick up some favorites. When I am not sure of new music, this is a great place to go for some advice. I recently bought a new CD by a band I hadn't heard of based on their quick note on the CD case: "If you put Nirvana and Wilco in a blender, this is what you'd get". Good, honest, refreshing reviews of alternative or edge music - give it a try! They have decent prices, plus you get a personal touch.
This is my favorite store on Broadway, and my daughter's too. If you love horses, there is a multitude of horse-related gifts, from inexpensive funny cards to very nice stained glass windows. It has unique items from local artisans, and "tourist" stuff which is fun for your visiting friends. I always get Christmas ornaments here, which are distinctly "Saratogian". I love this store! And it is very active with local spirit too.
I have lived in several states and the setup this pediatrician's office has is in my opinion - best. I enjoy having a primary care doctor who will be the one that sees my child EACH time he or she needs an appointment, and not just "whoever's up next". This way they get to know your child well. I also like that there are calling hours to get questions asked, before they open so that you aren't on hold.
We had a surgical procedure done on my dog, along with another major surgery, and then nine months later needed to redo one. In nine months, the price of just one of the surgeries had tripled from the original. Not sure why that is justified, but didn't seem to be a good value. We went elsewhere for the surgery at a much better price.
This is a great place to board a dog. The people are very friendly, obviously love animals and treated our dog like a queen! She also got her shots - her veterinarian is literally next door [they will come over].We felt the price was reasonable and with the extras of being able to get her yearly shots taken care of at the same time, it saved us from having to take time off from work for another appointment.
PROS: If your vet is next door, they will schedule any needed shots too.
