They have every variety of stone and ceramic paving, roofing and building material. An amazing resource so close to such a high-end residential and retail area. You would never imagine a site carried so many giant stores of stone, marble, etc.. plus skilled advisors right in Santa Monica!
PROS: Great local resource, all kinds of materails..a quarry full!
CONS: None..you may find things cheaper, but not more convenient
I guess I am the third person left on earth who STILL wants full serve. I find that the constant tire and fluid checks really save me money in the long run as I am aware of little issues before they become big ones...Besides, I like having them all do the little things I remember as simple gas station service from my childhood! This is the way a service station should be run...it's like an ad from the 1950's I LOVE it!
PROS: BEST service ever...they check and clean everything with a smile
CONS: well...full serve isn't cheap..but you knew that!
NOT my first choice for any mechanical work, nothing at this place inspires confidence, but they did have my very hard to find tires here and did a good job of installing them at a fair price.
PROS: OK for tires
CONS: wouldn't feel great having work done on my car here
This shop was our mechanic of choice for over ten years, the fellow with whom we did business has moved on and opened his own shop...but the remaining staff is still first rate!
PROS: HONEST reasonable and fair
CONS: Doyle is gone now, but the others are still great
Both times we have visited here, the dining area was nearly empty and that always makes us a little nervous, but both times the caribbean specialties were good and nicely presented. The service is fairly quick and friendly. The name makes us think of Asian food and we often forget this nice place is nearby..more Montego Bay than Chinese.
PROS: Good food and service
CONS: sometimes looks empty and a little forgotten
We enjoy their baked goods, especially the fresh banana chocolate chip cookies! We have stayed away recently due to several meals where our food took FOREVER to come to the table, but once it arrived it was good..though not great. I will stick to the breakfast menu here from now on, it is more consistent and reliably good. Reasonably priced and welcoming too.
PROS: Good baked items and breakfasts..reasonably priced
CONS: Sometimes service is SLOW especially for lunch & dinner
This semi outdoor foodstand turned trendy lunch date place has become a little too big for its own britches perhaps. The food is brazilian, heavy on meat and stews and quite good. It has clearly become a watering hole for nearby movie studios and the prices are more consistent with a fine dining establishment than an outsized grill stand. I still love the moist and chewy-tender thin grilled steak with rice and black beans, but come on...$14 for a lunch plate you carry to a table by the sidewalk? A fun place to take non-locals though...
PROS: Good brazilian specialties and a funky fun atmosphere
CONS: overpriced and more funky than fabulous
This sushi restaurant is pronounced "OH-TOE-MU" despite the spelling. It is located on a busy street near the 405 freeway in a restaurant that gives little indication they are a sushi house. It looks more like it should be a Denny's. The fish is fab and very fresh. they have an AMAZING "all you can eat in an hour" special where each piece is hand cut and freshly made by the chef at the counter..he is so fast that you can barely keep up with the flow..a real bargain. Not the most elegant but great value!
PROS: Fresh fish, great value.."all you can eat in an hour" special
CONS: weird location, needs updating, but a worthy sushi joint!
This little diner style sandwich shop has been in business since the era of drive-in movies. With its outdoor firepits and tables and indoor booth and counter service it is a pleasant sort of relic and a neighborhood favorite. They serve unusual pastrami dip sandwiches with piles of paper thin slices of steamy pastrami on soft rolls or rye bread and big bowls of tangy real deli kosher style dill pickle chunks on every table(the REAL draw!). they also serve burgers, breakfasts and other grill style items, like what we call the heartburn special...a big order of fries smothered in chili and cheese...aacchh! I hope it never closes!
PROS: The PICKLES! Great greasy spoon, reasonable and friendly
CONS: the calories and the heart attacks to come....
