Stratford Inn
A clean and serviceable room is what you can expect here, nothing fancy but definitely convenient. Just across the street from Safeway, and also walking distance to the theatre.

Winchester Inn
Winchester Inn is a gorgeously maintained Victorian beauty right in the heart of douwntown Ashland, within steps of the Shakespeare Festival. The rooms are beautifully appointed with nineteenth century flourishes, and the service is more than gracious. But I think the best part is the restaurant, which has the best food in town. Can't beat this for a romantic getaway.

Ashland Outdoor Store
Ashland is an outdoorsy place, with lots of fun activities to indulge in, and this store is a must for the gear you'll need. Staff is helpful without hovering, and all are active practitioners of the activities in question. Great camping stuff.

Talbots
While this is a small shop even for a Talbots, it has basic offerings of the preppie classics for women. There's not much traffic in this store, perhaps due to its awkward location.

Agway Of Candlewood
Good for some household hardware and especially great for garden and farm stuff, including soil and hay and straw etc. The people are fairly knowledgable and very nice to deal with. Also great selection of bird feeds.

Candlewood Valley Apiary
This is a mom and pop business selling beekeeping supplies and bee products such as honey and beeswax candles. The pop is the guy whom local hobbyists consult on their matters apian. The mom runs the front of the store, and is usually in a bad mood.

Aubuchon Hardware
This is the most convenient place in the area to go for your basic hardware needs when doing projects and fix-ups around the house. The people are helpful and friendly, and the prices are reasonable.

Nine West Outlet
Nine West offers a good mixture of price, quality and style. Too often the mass produced low end shoes are just too ugly to wear even if they fit well, which they typically don't. Nine West actually has styles that are attractive, even fashionable. This particular shop is user friendly and staff are easy going.

Martin's Country Craftsman
Martins does fine work in building custom sheds or gazebos or the like. They also have prebuilt ones of all sizes that are fairly priced and nicely finished. Good quality workmanship all around.

Janus-Cooks' Junction
The cookware, gadgets and kitchen stuff here is variable in quality, some high end things, some really drek, but all uniformly overpriced for whatever it is.
