Runners Factory
Although a small store, the runners factory has a very good selection of running shoes and clothing to fit all sizes. Located just across from Old Town they are very convienent to get to with parking literally on all four sides.
Petroglyph Inc
There used to be a Petroglyphs located in Menlo Park and Palo Alto however the closest ones now are in San Jose and Los Gatos. It is alot of fun to have a ceramic party at Petryglyphs - you and your friends can take a bottle of wine and paint ceramics. Not only is it alot of fun for a group but you also have a lasting memory in the piece you painted. Try it out sometime.
Menlo Medical Clinic
The nice thing about the clinic is that it is full service. Not only can you see your doctor here, but the facility also contains an x-ray lab, pharmacy and lab for drawing blood. The doctors I have seen all seem good but finding a doctor is rather personal so I would suggest you look at their bios and decide based on criteria that is important to you.
Foothill College
I have used the Foothill./Deanza College Adult education and found them to be extremely high quality classes. The process to sign up for a class is almost too simple - you sometimes think you have not done something correct for it is so uncomplicated. The quality of the teachers seems to be very high.
Trust For Hidden Villa
This is a great spot to bring the family. There are trails to hike around, a mini-farm, a large patch of vegetable garden and a home originally built by the Duvenecks. You can learn alot about the history of the area by stopping at this location. They also have summer camps, birthday parties, etc. with the theme throughout of environmental responsibility.
San Jose Mercury News
I recently cancelled my subscription to the Mercury News for I found their reporting to be very one sided and biased. On some critical news that would favor a view opposed to that of the Mercury News, many times they go without reporting it. As you will see in another review of mine I simply look at the Palo Alto Daily (which is free) and listen to radio to gather my news. I also have Yahoo postings with key headlines and still do keep the Mercury News on Line as one of the sites I can visit if I want to see additional things.
Palo Alto Daily News
The Palo Alto Daily highlights both national and local news. I recently stopped getting the Mercury News for I found their reporting to be extremely biased and incomplete. The Daily is free of charge at many of the local coffee shops and gives a quick run down of key news worthy events. Since I also listen to the news on radio I find the combination of the daily and radio gives me the info I need and does not frustrate me as much as reading the Mercury News used to.
Palo Alto Weekly
Just as the Los Altos Town Crier services Los Altos with local news so does the Palo Alto weekly for Palo Alto. Delivered twice weekly, this is a great source for local news, events and real estate. I read this along with the Town Crier on a regular basis.
Los Altos Town Crier
Receiving this newspaper weekly is perfect. It contains local news that you would not be able to read about anywhere else. Along with the news it has a good calendar of upcoming local events and available real estate in the area.
Los Altos Card and Party
If I cannot find what I need at a discount store, the Los Atlos Card and Party is always my next stop. They have a good selection of greeting cards for any occasion, party supplies, gift wrap and custom invitations. The section of the store that contains the invitations also has higher end gifts such as pens, small clocks, jewlery and watches. You will pay full price but the convenience is definitely worth it.
