Mills Bakery
If you're passing through Wood-Ridge make sure to stop at Mills Bakery for some buns or a crumb cake. So many delicious things to choose from. Their sprinkle cookies are a must! Definitely worth the price.
PROS: Easy to find on the main street
CONS: Some items are a little pricey
Allendale Flowers
It's a tiny shop, but there's more than meets the eye. I bought a beautiful bouquet for my grandmother. My only direction to the florist was to be bright and colorful for around $20. What I got seemed like more than $20 and my grandmother said the flowers lasted so long. This place is worth a look for when you need a bouquet or arrangement.
PROS: Nice variety
CONS: None
Soho Nails
I stopped in here while waiting for a friend up town in Hoboken. They were near closing but still welcomed me in. The manicurist did not rush through my service and no one made me feel like I was holding up their closing. Their prices are average, but the service itself was above average. If I'm in need of a manicure and near 12th street I will definitely be stopping in again. They also have one of those VIP cards for frequent visitors to the salon.
PROS: Late hours
CONS: The usual Hoboken parking issues
As "U" Wish Nail Spa
I went here after my honeymoon for a manicure. The inside of the shop is very interesting and relaxing. I ended up getting a brand new manicurist that had no idea what she was doing (although she was sweet and personable). Luckily the owner saw me getting annoyed and came right over to remedy the situation. Just for that I will try this salon again. The pedicures on their "menu" sound amazing. Hopefully they are worth the hefty price.
PROS: Relaxing atmosphere, clean salon
CONS: Prices are high, not open every day
Oasis Tanning Salon
I've gone here before several events and vacations. If you can look past a 17 year old running the place, you will be satisfied with your tan. I had a question about how long I should go in based on my skin color and she looked at me blankley and proceed to say "like" and "um" a bunch of times. Once I got used to how many minutes I could/should be in there for, the experience was fine. Prices are reasonable and the beds are clean.
PROS: Shares a parking lot with a gym, so lots of parking
CONS: Tucked in the pack of the lot and kids work there.
Bill's Shoe Repair
I brought a pair of shoes here that I thought were beyond repair. Bill was able to fix everything and give them a new life! His prices are reasonable and he has your items finished when promised. Always a place I recommend.
PROS: Quick professional service
CONS: Parking is on a main street, not many spaces
V & S Cleaners
I've used this dry cleaner for years and always had great experiences. One of the perks in addtion to great service is their hours. They are open from 6:30 in the morning, so you can drop items off before work. Definitely convenient! They also have a location in Ramsey in the Shop Rite shopping center.
PROS: Great hours, plenty of parking
CONS: none
Petals & Potions
Recently the local florist, Bonnie's Florist, changed owners and became Petals & Potions. I ordered flowers for a family member's birthday and was pleasantly surprised by the freshness and quality of the bouquet. She was able to enjoy the bouquet for nearly 10 days and the shop delivered when they said they would.
PROS: Easy location on Valley Boulevard
CONS:
Chocolate Dreams
You won't be able to enter this little shop and not buy something to snack on for the way home. Everything is home made and delicious. Prices are reasonable and they have a great selection for holidays and everyday occassions.
PROS: Home made chocolates, parking right on main street
CONS: None
Antique Bakery
I love walking to this little bread bakery. They're open till 8:30 most nights, which is about the time I get home. I can swing in there and pick up a few rolls for under $1 or a loaf of semolina bread for $1.25. Can't beat the prices and you know it's all freshly made. Definitely worth checking out!
PROS: Delicious fresh bread!! Late hours
CONS: None
