Friends Nursery School
This is by far the best nursery school for children. Their philosophy is a warm, safe, inviting, hands-on environment with loving, caring experienced teachers. Children learn as they explore and play. This school setting is more like a ranch-style house with lots of room and outdoor play areas in the front and rear of the school. It is fully enclosed and safe. The teachers are skilled and helpful, and know when to let children be guided and not led. Potty training is necessary before entry. They are accredited and rate an A+ in safety and emergency training.
Friendsmarts
Ginny Strock, PhD, is the founder of Friendsmarts. She is a psychologist who has school-age children in groups of 4 by age. They work on their social skills in a manner of socializing and working on small projects, and receiving a reminder paper at the end of what to do for a given situation. These papers are saved as good reminders, and things the children can practice at home. We as parents know what they worked on for each session. The sessions run for about 4 months.
Tseng W Gregory Dds
This is a very good dentist. And he has a kind staff and a great sense of humor. His CD selection is great too, and is willing to play music you like as you are worked on. He has a loyal following and is busy. A sign of a good dentist.
Frontier Mercantile
This is a fun place to shop. Their prices are great, and the selection really good. There is a lot crammed into this store. Jewelry, clothing, handmade crafts are all here with a friendly owner. This is definitely off the beaten path, but in the true "downtown" of Cave Creek and nestled in the foothills with a group of other shops and delites. This is worth the trip to come to this little shopping area with authentic wares and the best fudge shop we ever had fudge from. About 50 flavors too.
Don't miss this shopping spot if you're anywhere close - or not!
Del Sol Intl Shops
This store has a wonderful selection of all things Southwestern. And the pricing is very fair. I couldn't buy enough things, and if it wasn't because of needing to catch a plane, I would have stayed to buy much more. A must for anyone who loves southwest design, fabrics, rugs, jewelry, vases, etc. I can't say enough about this store. I can't wait to go back.
Bells Book Store
This is not your Barnes and Noble. This bookstore has a wealth of Art and History. And books that are leather-bound. It has recently celebrated an anniversary of 71 years. It is a place to browse and appreciate fine writings and special literature. It is a 2-story store with memories and history. This is a place you'll enjoy finding and purchasing that special book.
Outrage Salon
This is a good salon for cuts, hair color and japanese thermal straightening. They have a large staff and most of them have quite a few years of experience. They style for proms and weddings, and will take drop-ins if a hair stylist is not busy. Appts are recommended. They are usually quite busy.
Cardinal Bicycle Shop
Cardinal is the place to go for your bike or your kid's bike. And good helmets and reflective gear. And to tune up and service your bike. If you are an extreme bike enthusiast, this is probably not the place for you. Mike's Bikes is also related to Cardinal, and they carry the higher end, serious bike stuff. Cardinal is very competent. They're not warm and fuzzy, but knowledgable and well-priced. They service bikes well and are more than fair on pricing.
Adventure Toys & Teachers'
What a great place to wander around and get ideas for birthday gifts. It is also a great place for high quality toys, and a big selection. There is an extensive dress-up area and even a good selection of magician toys. This is a two-level store, and the upper level has teacher supplies along with some good travel puzzles, etc. The range of toys is from toddler to about 10, but there are board games, brain teasers and card games up to adult. Free gift wrapping is available, and the staff always helpful. You won't be disappointed here with the atypical selection.
Lin's Toy Cupboard
This is a small, but packed toy store. But you'll find the better brands and thinking toys here instead. Prices are reasonable, and selection is pretty good. The help is always friendly and will let you know when something comes in. I never walk out empty-handed.
