Mc Neil Crossing Animal Clinic

Austin, TX Animal Hospitals - Austin, TX Veterinarians 08/07/07: 'Dr. Jackson Ran Me Off For Good!'

I feel like before I start I need to state that I am not broke. We are an average family with a mortgage, car payment and child. This is not about having an animal I cant afford to take care of.

I had moved to the area a year ago and had used Block House Creek Animal Hospital in the past. I loved them. Great vets who were friendly and understanding. The drive was a bit much, so I switched when I adopted a dog. Dr. Z was the first vet I met and she was compassionate and caring.

I adopted two kittens around fathers day and took them in to be checked out and to get their shots. I didnt see Dr. Z which was disappointing, I saw Dr. Jackson. What a lady! She was rude, condescending and high on her horse about animal care! I had an estimate for a teeth cleaning for my older cat that was around $200 from Dr. Z. Dr. Elisa Jackson wanted to charge me $464 for the low end and $784 for the high end. So you understand, my cat is eight. Her teeth arent that bad, but they did need a cleaning. I was shocked with the estimate she gave me. Not just the price of it but the length of the estimate. It almost went the length of the page with all the miscellaneous charges. When I pled my case for why I would not pay that much for my cat to have her teeth cleaned, (namely, I dont pay that much for my dental care or my sons dental care combined , why would I pay that much for my cats dental care?), she of course had a comeback ready. Better anesthesia, warmed blankets and beds, a tech monitoring anesthesia, a tech doing the cleaning and a tech monitoring the cats vitals. She even tried to discredit Dr. Z who had given me the original estimate. I asked if she would rather the cat never get her teeth cleaned than to take off some of the miscellaneous charges. She told me I could save up for it.

Dr. Jackson needed a fecal sample and sent me home with a tube. I have four cats. I asked how I was to tell whose poop belonged to whom. She told me to follow the kittens around until they pooped to get the sample. What kind of advice is that?

When I had the kittens looked at during this visit I found out they came to my home with ringworm. They did a scraping and called me about ten days later to say that it had come back positive. True to form Dr. Jackson had a long list of expenses to cure what ailed my cats. I called Block House to ask their opinion and what they recommended be done to my cats was half of what Dr. Jackson recommended. I took the drive to Block House and had my cats treated.

It is a shame when you find a vet that is more interested in your pocket book than your animals. After meeting Dr. Jackson I will never return to Mc Neil crossing animal clinic.

Deep Eddy Rug & Carpet Cleaner

My mother in law who has had several strokes lived with us for a couple months last year and stayed in our guest room. She is an avid coffee drinker (2-3 pots a day) and would try to carry her coffee from the kitchen to the bedroom spilling coffee all over the carpet on the way.
We have had two different companies come out to clean the carpets and neither of them could get the carpet to look even halfway decent. Both companies told me that it was as good as it was going to get.
I heard a commercial for Deep Eddy on the radio and thought I'd give it one more shot. They were more expensive than most places but totally worth it! I'm so happy I called. The carpet looks new! Not a single coffee stain is left!
There was one cat stain that was not able to be lifted completely, but you really do have to know where it is to see it. Much better than the last two guys. The carpet looked the same when they left and the stain was plain as day.
The carpet is beautiful! I wont be embarrassed to have people stay in that room anymore.

PROS: On time, professional, great job!
CONS: A little pricey (but worth it!), unable to fully lift pet stain
