George's Bistro
I have lived in the Santa Clarita Valley for 25 years and can honestly say this is the best restaurant in town! The atmosphere is very classy, yet there were patrons being welcomed wearing their tank tops and short. The waitstaff were very attentive and kept our glasses full. Most importantly, the food was phenomenal. I don't say this lightly. I ordered the chicken marsala with garlic mashed potatoes. It was so good that even my chicken-marsala hating husband was stealing my food! He ordered the chicken ravioli with a walnut cream sauce and practically licked the plate clean. For dessert - creme brule! It was a very enjoyable experience. While a bit pricy, it is worth every penny!
PROS: Best chicken marsala ever
CONS: Located off the beaten track, but worth the search
A & B Chinese Express
This is a great take out Chinese restaurant. Their portions are very large so even their lunch can be eaten over two days! My favorite is the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. It is so creamy, and just packed full of shrimp. My husband loves the KungPao Chicken. It is spicy and has tons of peanuts in it. One of my friends even asked them to make eggfooyoung for her. It isn't on the menu but they made it anyway! It was delicious!
I highly recommend A & B.
Coffee Kiosk
Coffee Kiosk is wonderful for the commuter or for the local who is either too rushed or too lazy to make their own coffee! The coffee is always hot and fresh, and yummy! I particularly love their blended mocha drink with the whipped cream on top. It is perfect on a hot summer day!
The best part is that unlike Starbucks, I don't have to drag my two kids into a store, but can just drive up to the window and order. It is convenient and quick when you are on the go!
PROS: Everything tastes good!
CONS: Sometimes there are long lines
Margaritas Mexican Grill
This is another one of those restaurants that would receive five stars if not for the slow service. We keep going back because the food is really good. The drawbacks are that one of the waitresses always, and I mean always, gets somebodys order wrong. She never writes anything down, and evidently she needs to! All of the waiters are slow on the refills, but the busboys seem to pick up the slack and take pity on those whose taste buds are burning off!
PROS: Five Stars for the food
CONS: Two stars for the service
Audiology Associates
Our four year old had tubes put in her ears because there was so much fluid she literally couldn't hear. Her ENT told us to go the Audiology Associates to make sure that her hearing we on target, but to also make sure her speech hadn't been affected. Ginny was just wonderful with her. She made her comfortable, made her laugh, and then ran the tests without my daughter even realizing it was a test.
Ginny could tell that I was worried, and spoke to me long enough to calm me down. She was very professional, and both my daughter and I thought she was great!
Dr. Pamela Colby
Dr. Colby is fairly new to our area. The first time I met her she put me right at ease. My daughter had strep throat, and had been up all night complaining of a sore throat. Dr. Colby immediately diagnosed her and got us on antibiotics right away.
She is one of the only doctors that I have ever met that actually plays with the children in her office. She gets them to relax, and talks to them like they are real people. She asks them what is wrong rather than just excusing what they are saying to listen to the parents. My kids both love her, and I do too!
PROS: Very thorough and professional, yet loving and kind
CONS: Only works for Facey so others cannot enjoy her care
Feldman Rochelle C MD
We used Dr. Feldman for two years. She was always so patient and kind to each member of our family. My daughter saw her from about 1 year to age 3 and never once hated going to the doctor - shots and all. We only stopped going here because they stopped taking our insurance, and it is such a pain and expense to change back that we just haven't.
I really would recommend this office for your children. They have well child room as well as a sick child room so you don't have to worry as much about your little one getting sick when going to the doctor for a physical. I wish more doctors offices and staffs cared as much as they do!
PROS: Well Child waiting room
CONS:
My Gym Children's Fitness
This is a great place for children of all ages. They offer classes geared for all levels, but the one I am most familiar with is the 2-year-old class. They have the kids throwing balls, riding on an electric train, running and swinging. It is a fun place full of bright colors. My children both loved it and were very sad when they got too big for me to take there anymore.
The teachers are fun and energetic. What more can you ask for in coach that will be working with your children!
PROS: Fun and energetic
CONS: Fairly large class sizes
Santa Clarita Athletic Club
This is one of the best gyms in Santa Clarita. They are open 24 hours a day (except for Sunday) so it really limits the number of excuses you can come up with for not going! They have many exercise classes for all levels. Also, they have an area exclusively for women if you feel like gyms tend to be meat markets.
They also have a newer pool that offers swimming lessons, as well as regular water classes.
The coaches all seem to know what they are doing and teach their skills well.
This is one gym that I hope will be around for a long time.
PROS: Open 24 hours - 6 days a week
CONS: Located at the edge of town, kind of far from everything else
Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Their slogan is true! My car had broken down and I had no way to get to them. They came and picked me up, and once my car was repaired and I returned the rental, they drove me home!
Actually, we have rented from them on several occasions, and have always felt like we got a good deal. The cars are in great condition, clean, and even smell new. I won't rent from anyone else. I like the people who work her, and the business they do.
