When I moved to Portland, I went through Westaff to get work. I found that they didn't pay attention to what I told them on the application or to their face. I mentioned that I couldn't lift over about fifty pounds as I was recovering from a back problem, but they immediately placed me in a position where I was required to lift over 100 pounds many times a day. It was a really awkward day on the job not being able to do many of the tasks, but being required to stay.
I found Term Personnel to push any job you're qualified for on you even if it's not what you're looking for. I gave specific explanations of what I was looking for, but got pushed into other jobs that didn't fit the description. It would be nice to feel like they're listening to you. They did eventually find me a decent job, but the pay they took out was ridiculous. They were getting half of the amount I was!
This place should be a terrific place to go for a bargain on appliances since they deal in refurbished, but I don't believe in giving business to places with unpleasant customer service. I'm reasonably new to town, so I'm not sure where the deals are yet, but I know this place isn't worth the nasty customer service.
Intra World Travel and Tours helped me through a few tight jams while booking reservations for my boss. They were able to help me out a couple times with last second reservations when we weren't sure we'd be able to work out a trip. They were always helpful with lots of options such as multiple carriers or an extra night in a city for a better deal. I highly recommend Intra World.
I had to use Four Corners for work with an extremely demanding boss. Four Corners always worked with me even when I had to switch a reservation multiple times. They were always very helpful and quick to get back to me. I find their customer service to be much better than average. The deals were probably about what you'll get with any travel agency, but the people do make a difference.
Invariably when I use other companies for maps and directions, they fail me. Lots of inaccurate information is out there, but without fail, Rand McNally comes through for me. I also find that their online map program, http://www.randmcnally.com is very helpful. It has never failed me and I definitely recommend it.
Thai Orchid has some of the best Thai food I've found. The Pad Thai is out of this world and the curries are as good as you'll find. The thing that stops this place from being world class though is the nasty service. I never once had somebody be pleasant toward me. It's like getting a world class meal served to you by somebody you shot the mother of. I recommend getting it for take out and minimizing the service and enjoying the food.
Giovanni's Italian Restaurant has some very tasty food. I love the baked ziti, which is always delicious. Their house salad dressing is out of this world as well. I always ask for some extra to dip breadsticks in. The surroundings aren't much. It's just a strip mall diner style, but the prices are good. My one big criticism is that their dishes seem to be getting creamier and creamier as time goes by making it less and less healthy. Of course, it's delicious, but it doesn't make me want to go in as frequently.
This doesn't have the more refined Thai style and presentation of some of the other restaurants in the area. It's a tiny area crammed with odd lunchboxes on the wall and too many tables in too little space, but the food is very tasty and it's very inexpensive. The service is almost always snippy, but who cares. Your tastebuds will be going crazy for the Pad Thai and the Tom Yum Soup. Yummy.
This is a very nice place in downtown Winter Park. The food is terrific. Our group ordered across the map...seafood, meat, vegetarian and all were thrilled with their food. The desserts I hear are delicious as well, but I couldn't tell you as I was stuffed. The service was terrific taking care of all our requests (which admittedly were a bit much) with a smile. The atmosphere is wonderful as well giving all tables a nice view of the lake behind the restaurant and the huge oaks in the back. Wonderful restaurant!
