Burke Williams offers plenty of diffenet kind of massages (all fairly pricey) so you can certainly find the right one you're looking for as well as enjoy their great spa amenities (relaxing waiting room, sauna etc). I didn't find the massage therapist to be as powerful as I would have liked for the price.
PROS: Many different kinds of massages, great atmosphere
The cakes from here are sooo good and "light" tasting (though I'm sure not light in calories), it's unbelievable. Try the white cake with fruit - it's like eating sweet air. Mmm. Perfect for weddings or parties.
PROS: Best cakes
Mani's Bakery to me is always inexplicably crowded (after going there). The bakery items I find to be somewhat tasteless and dry. However it's a good place to grab a healthy lunch on Main Street on a nice day.
PROS: Nice patio
CONS: Bakery items not that great
Elias appears to be the tailor to the stars (check out the photos inside) which may indicate why some of his prices are high. However, the work is of very high quality and his turnaround is incredibly fast. Jeans hemmed are around $15 and usually ready the next day.
PROS: Very competent and quick
CONS: Not inexpensive
but the sushi is not very high quality. They have quite a nice selection but unfortunately the fish does not seem that fresh nor is it prepared creatively. However, beer and wine are very cheap. Service was quite poor.
PROS: Inexpensive sushi
CONS: Quality of fish not great
Big Dean's is a fun local joint, very small but with an outside patio, perfect for having a beer and watching the sunset or the activity on the pier. It's located right below Santa Monica pier near the Hot Dog on a Stick. They make their own chips and they are delcious. Cheap beers at happy hour.
PROS: Chips and cheap beer
CONS: Not enough seats out front
Though the Otheroom is very popular, it's still not snobby or "hollywood". Great selection of wines by the glass and tons of different kinds of beer, comfy seats, good lighting and great music make this a perfect place for a date or a nightcap. People from Venice, show your driver's license to skip the line.
PROS: Nicest bar in Venice
CONS: Very busy Friday/Saturday nights
Lemon Tree is so neat! It's a little cottage just stuffed with random gifts and accessories as well as trendy LA type clothing and jewelry. You can spend an hour just walking around and looking. If you can't find a unique gift here, you can't find it anywhere. It's got stuff for kids, pets, and everyone in between.
PROS: Huge selection of merchandise
Pico Bowl is a great place for group event with friends. It's open late and it's very casual and inexpensive (no fancy cocktails here). You definitely need to reserve lanes Friday and Saturday nights as it gets quite crowded and sometimes lanes are hard to come by.
PROS: Cheap and fun
CONS: Crowded on weekends
Moondance has the best selection of funky, independent designers as well as more established ones such as Me & Ro. Pieces tend to be more delicate rather than huge/chunky stones. It is very pricey so go when they have a sale (twice a year) - get on the mailing list for trunk shows and sale news. Service is also very good.
PROS: Amazing jewelry selection
