Steak House

Las Vegas, NV Steakhouses 07/04/06: 'This at Circus Circus???'

WOW! That is all I can say. Get past the ankle biters and rude kids and gamblers and you have a classy resturant in a not so classy casino. The decor and aroma is wonderful. Open air kitchen in the center so you can see, hear, and smell the cooking. Dinner for two: Appletini, Classic Martini, Sauted Mushrooms, Halibut and Porterhouse came to $108 with tip. This place is not afraid of portions. The dinners came with vegetables (aspargus this night) and a choice of Black Bean Soup or Garden Salad and Baked potato, Garlic Mashed Potato or Rice Pilaf. They offered the desert cart but with these portions...who can last that long.

PROS: Portions, quality, service, value
CONS: Walking past rude patrons and rude children.

Picante Mexican Seafood Restaurant

Las Vegas, NV Mexican Restaurants - Las Vegas, NV Seafood Restaurants 07/04/06: 'Discrimination through service?'

I have dined here twice and it happened both times. I am an Anglo-Saxon (white) and I noticed that if you are Hispanic, you get better service, the staff checks up on you, you get better seating. As an Anglo-Saxon I get to see my wait staff 3 times (order, delivery, payment) and that is it. I am also placed in a table against a wall next to the bar. There are better Mexican restaurants in town besides this one. Patronize them.

PROS: Delicious food
CONS: Poor discriminating service

Sandy Hill Animal Clinic

When my current vet left Las Vegas I was at a loss. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Anast and glad he did. Our long hair Chihuahua was in failing health and towards the end she was blacking out. She had an episode on a Saturday. I called the office to find them closed, however Dr. Anast answered from home. He said to meet him up at the office. He wanted me to leave her overnight and assured me he would take her home to care for her. Not many vets will do this. About a month later, she was called to doggy heaven and I called Dr. Anast to let him know. He offered to send someone to pick her up, but I said I will do it as I need it for closure. He knew as a gay male that this was my "child" my baby that I lost. It was devastating on myself and my partner to have to wrap her in a towel and bring her in. Dr. Anast told me to call when I leave the house and a staff member will meet me in the back. I did and I pulled up and Dr. Anast stepped away from his appointments long enough to accept our precious little Penny himself rather than a staff member. He worked with us on the cremation expenses and made it so much easier. I will highly rate Dr. Anast as long as he is in practice. He obviously loves animals and it shows.

PROS: Compassionate, careing, considerate
CONS: NONE!!!!!
