Sedalia Medical Center Incorporated
I have been seeing Dr. Marc Carroll at Sedalia Medical Center for years, as has most of my family. He's a warm, caring doctor who is great at taking his time and really "caring" about what he does.
Unfortunately, there have been many times when I have been tempted to find another doctor because the office there is less than satisfactory. Sometimes it's hard to get an appointment, and when you do, you have to wait. And I mean really wait. Typically, if I have a three o'clock appointment, I'll get in to see the doctor by four. If you can get past this, and set aside enough time, then it's worth it. Dr. Carroll is the reason I've dealt with the unsatisfactory office.
Cookie Cutters Haircuts-Kids
With their car, airplane, and horse "chairs" for the kids to sit in, even the fussiest child can get a great haircut painlessly. The staff is very nice and friendly with the kids, and they can even pick their own video to watch while getting the cut, which helps tremendously with keeping them still. There is a play area for the waiting kids, as well as tv's with video game setup. They carry cute items like hairbows, and cute kids' items. Although I haven't tried it, I know that they offer a "baby's first haircut" keepsake kit with a frame, picture, and lock of hair.
Sometimes it's a little tough to get a walk-in appointment, so I would recommend calling ahead to schedule a time.
Embroidery Barn
I recently was looking for a last-minute gift for my dad's birthday, and had a great idea to get him a shirt and had with his business name embrordiered on them. I called around and most places wanted a huge amount of money to set up the typeface, and at least a one- to two-week turnaround. When I called the Embrordiery Barn, I spoke with the owner, who had me email the logo to her, and she told me a "rush job" would be no problem. She helped me select the shirt and hat to put them on, giving me good feedback as to the quality of the items. Three days later, I picked up the item. She was very friendly and the shirt and hat were just perfect. My parents have since ordered from there a few times and have always been happy with their purchases.
PROS: Highly recommended, great small business.
CONS:
Vet Clinic East
I have three cats and a dog that I have taken to this vetrinarian center. The staff at the front desk is always friendly and quick to "fawn" over my pets. The vets there are personal and loving to the animals. It's a smaller office, and I don't know how equipped they are for emergencies but for our basic vet care they have been great. Recently, our cat was hurt and we had to take her to them. We ended up having to put her down, but they were very gentle about it and handled it very professionally, and understood our grief over the situation. They are in a good location, and have a groomer's shop inside the office, although I couldn't attest to the quality, as I've never used them.
PROS: Caring staff and doctors.
CONS:
Dayspring Child Care
My children have been attending Dayspring Community Child Care Center for three years now and I haven't been anything but happy with them. They are located in a community church in Canal Winchester. The facility is clean and the ratio of children to teachers is low. I have a one year old daughter that has attended since she was twelve weeks, and a four year old daughter that has attended since she was two. They do some Christian education, but the majority of it is preschool type learning. My four year old can already write her name incredibly well for her age, and is well-socialized. I believe this has come from the environment at Dayspring. It's a small center, which allows for very "personal" interaction with the director and teachers. They do field trips, Christmas programs, a "graduation" for children entering kindergarten, movie days, luau week, and the like. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
PROS: Wonderful, caring teachers. Small personal environment. Clean facility.
