Williamston Inn

My husband and I always stay here when we go to MSU sporting events. It is so quiet and while it is just outside of town, it seems as if it is in the country. The hosts, John and Bonnie, are wonderful people too. The rooms are spotless and they all have microwaves and refrigerators. The landscape is like a park, it is so pretty. I would recommend this Inn to anyone, anytime.

Aftimos Antoun Md - Sharma Clinic

Last summer, my mom went to Dr. Antoun for a check up because she had a bad cough. He took all kinds of tests and then we all waited for the results. And waited. And waited...We would still be waiting for the results, I guess. I would call there and nag the office people who would assure me that the results would be in any day. This went on for over a month as did the cough. The bills came for the insurance company as well as the overrun they didn't cover and my mom paid them. Still no results. I got mad and called them back. The office staff is awful and they lie too, seriously. Anyway, Mother went to another doctor in Columbiaville who is a wonderful man, I might add, and unfortunately she has lung cancer. We lost a month of treatment because Dr. Antoun and his staff didn't care about an 80 year old woman. This is what I attribute this gross misconduct too. Prejudice against the elderly. She never received a follow up call either. Can you believe this? Thank God she went to this new doctor. She is now in remission after receiving a whole winter's worth of chemo. Do not go to this doctor...

CONS: Office mismanagement, elder prejudice, GREED, total misconduct

Bur-Lers Variety Store

There is something for everyone here at Burlers. My husband was raised in this area and his mother and Grandma shopped here all those years ago. I love to come here at Christmas time because they have all sorts of retro era decorations and candies. The people are all friendly and really like their working environment. Burlers also carries a lot of clothes, such as jeans and baby things. There is a small hardware area too for when you just want to run in and out quickly. I bet though that you will want to just look around and soak up the atmosphere. This store is one of a kind because it is not a chain outfit and it is not a dollar store. It has it's own personality. Enjoy!

PROS: So much to look at in a pleasant environment
CONS: Some things may be a bit pricey, but the obscure items are sure to please.

Golden Wheel Chinese Rstrnt

We have gone here a few times in the past years. I used to work nearby, but we were kind of disappointed. The soup was cold and the won-tons had some kind of cartilage in them the last time we went. The egg rolls were good. The employees are nice though and the service is fast. The Almond Chicken is about standard for a Chinese restaurant. I might stop in there for lunch sometime but as for an evening out, I think I will opt for someplace else.

PROS: Good egg rolls, fast service, decent prices
CONS: Nasty won-ton soup, so-so entrees.

Wah Hong Chop Suey

We drive over 10 miles to get here and not often enough. We usually go to the movie and then come here afterwards. The food is the best anywhere. Seriously. It is a bit pricey though, I will say. I love Almond Chicken and they give you enough for two days and I am a big eater. They also have the best Won Ton soup anyplace. My husband always gets the Steak Kow and when my cousin visits from the west side of the state, she gets the Sweet and Sour Chicken. She always wants to go here with every visit. They have huge dinner rolls too and terrific iced tea. The service is fast and the waitresses are really nice. It isn't too crowded either although they do a HUGE takeout business. I recommend this place to everyone. It is worth the drive if you don't live nearby.

PROS: Clean. Great food, hot soup and wonderful homemade dinner rolls to die for
CONS: just a wee bit expensive but worth every penny

Arbys

This is our preferred Arby's to go to when we go. There is one that is closer to our home, but this is much cleaner. The people that work there are always nice too, which gives a person faith that they are fastidious about their work. One negative thing is that if you go there other than the lunch or dinner hour, you may get a re-heated sandwich. We got one this evening that was sort of cold which worried me, but we were hungry and ate it anyway. It was also kind of dried out. Still, for lunch or dinner, this is the Arby's to go to in Warren. Clean goes a long way these days with all the news reports about gross conditions in kitchens of restaurants.

PROS: Clean, nice employees, easy parking
CONS: Go during the meal times if you want fresher sandwiches

Gordon Food Svc Marketplace

I went here this evening to pick up some sliced beets for my mom. She pickles them. Anyway, I came in the door and was greeted by a smiling sales person saying hello. She had probably been on her feet almost 8 hours already and she was just as pleasant as can be. I immediately found the beets because I go there so often and tooled around the store checking out the meat and frozen section. They have everything except COLD bottled water, which I really wanted because I was thirsty! Anyway, I have met the head manager on several occasions and he is so nice that he must be a source for the happy employees that work there. I recommend this store highly. I am amazed at the amount of stuff they have and it is spotlessly clean. The stock guys will stop whatever they are doing to give you a hand finding what you need. My husband and I just enjoy going here.

But the people that work there save it. There are some cool people working there. Do not drink a lot of coffee and then use the bathroom. There are BP gas stations who have cleaner bathrooms. It is horrible and I refuse to use it. I go there in the evenings when I have to go at all. Yes, the prices are great on mostly everything, but they exploit their labor just terrible and it goes against my political correctness to shop there at all.

PROS: The employeess and I have never worked there by the way

Produce Palace Intl

The presentation is just great! There is also a convenient bathroom so if you've had your morning coffee, you don't have to worry on this account and can take your time. :) You will want to have plenty of time too, because there are so many things to look at. I haven't heard of a lot of the stuff and there are always friendly people to help you out. The prices are a bit high compared to Meijer for instance, but the variety is the winner and overcomes all of this. Christmas time is wonderful in this store. Make it a point to shop there then. They also have gorgeous fruit baskets and party trays. The parking is easy and there are a lot of spaces. In the summer, check out their plants and flowers. They have everything!

PROS: Variety, variety, variety!
CONS: maybe a bit pricey, but it's worth it for freshness
