We drive over 3 hours just to eat here. We have planned vacations around a trip to eat here. If I lived any closer I'd be 300 pounds!! This is by far the best smorgasbord anywhere.
PROS: the price includes meal, tax and tip.
CONS: you can only eat so much
When you go here you go to eat, not for the atmosphere. This is no frills at its finest! The pancakes are some of the best. Creamed dried beef like my mother use to make. Very reasonable, the owners might even wait on you. Lots of easy free parking.
Don't bother going to Walmart, Home Depot, or any of the big stores. Church Street Hardware will have it. I can not tell you how many times this store has helped me out with a project. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The new owner has total remodeled the store and it is very organized and neat. The only place around I know where you can still buy loose nails and screws. If you only need one you buy one! Located on Church street in Hawley, don't worry if you can't find it ask anyone in town, they'll know where to send you. The store has been there since 1857!
One of the biggest problem is the consistency of their meals. Get the eggplant parm one trip it's one of the best you can have. The next time, it's one of the worst. The prices are very reasonable, that's one reason we keep going back. Two can eat with tip and no alcoholic drinks about $25.00. The bar is adjacent to the dining room so there is always second hand smoke
PROS: a menu for "Smaller Appetites"
CONS: poor ventilation does not remove second hand smoke
I have been using this vet clinic for years. The docs are great. Extremely caring and gentle with the animals. AND very patient with the owner. When my dog was diagnosed with IBS. The compassion I was shown was of genuine concern, not just another dollar sign. The staff , on the other hand , always seem a little overworked, and are not always friendly.
We have heard so much about this restaurant, we just felt we had to go. It will be the last time. It was only two of us. We wanted a light supper so one ordered soup and the other salad. We waited over ONE HOUR. The topper was a dirty crusted salad bowl. People still rave, I don't know why?
Four of us went to celebrate birthdays and an anniversary. What a great dinner. The heart attack steak is just that. It was perfect. Done to order, with gobs of butter, browned onions, garlic and then bacon. Can you hear your arteries closing? DEEELicous. The wait staff was a little slow , but the food made up for that. As special treat the owner treated us to dessert for our celebrations, a very nice touch. A bit pricey but well worth it.
PROS: a great place to get a good steak
CONS: menu is ala carte
This is by far the best breakfast buffet I have ever been to. It is our favorite place to eat.You can eat yourself into a coma if you want...and all for $9.95!
Ask for a table in the lower section, if you sit by the bar or the buffet table you tend to be in the way and the owner sits at the end of the buffet line so you feel like you are being watched, (it's a little creepy.
The wait staff is some of the best. very friendly.
What a great find! I just love this store. It is one of my favorite places to buy books. Forget Borders or Barnes and Noble, there are literally tens of thousand of books, of all kinds, here. As you first go into the store the front room is filled with 19th century books. The front room leads into three more rooms filled with books in every conceivable category. The store is very neat and well organized, a real plus. You can get great deals on most paperback books. I found the perfect signed book for my daughter's birthday. I am still drooling over a beautiful set of Washington Irving books. The owners are very attentive but not overbearing, and are willing to help you find your way around. If you are looking for something they don't have, most likely they can get it for you. Some added surprises, the owner does book repairs and book binding right there. Not only do they have great books , but also very fine old art prints, "etching" and "engravings" in the back room. Framing is available with lots of choices there too. What a great store to find in a small town.
PROS: the selection is huge
What a great find in a small town. Thousands of books all organized and neat. Very unusual for a used book store. The owner is very helpful in finding books for you if he doesn't have it in stock. Prices are very reasonable starting from $1 or $2 dollars. He also has some very interesting items that are rare and unusual. The inventory is endless from the rare books to common paperback. There is something here for everyone.!
