The Cutting Edge is a great place to stop in for a quick haircut. While reservations are highly recommended, I have walked in and received a haircut with minimal wait time. Even though this is a smaller sized beauty salon, the services I have received here in the past have been of good quality. they used to have a haircut special for first time patrons. not sure if they still offer this discoint, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to ask!
PROS: Good haircuts at good prices
Harbor Lites Hair Design is conveniently located atthe ned of the Milford green, on the second floor of a parking garage and it sort of overlooks the water. I have gotten several haircuts at this hair salon, and I have been satisifed with both the cut and the service I received each time. The stylists are friendly and truly listen to the type of cut and style you want. The prices at Harbor Lites are average hair salon prices, not cheap but certainly not the highest pricing I have ever seen either.
PROS: Good cuts, central location on the green
Young Nails is a good place to grab a lunchtime manicure if you work in one of the many office buildings or businesses in Shelton. there is usually not much of a wait time, the prices are average, and they do as good a job at manicures as any other nail salon. If you go at the right time, they will spend extra time on your pedicure too, it seems to me. Try to hit it at a less busy time, I would suspect around two in the afternoon, and you will get even better treatment. I recommend Young Nails when you need a manicure and don't have an appointment, they will always fit you in.
PROS: good manicures, reasonable prices
Top Nails is a great place to go when you need a fast manicure. There usually is not a long wait time, and I have always been pleased with the manicures I have gotten here. I have never gotten a pedicure here so I can not speak for them. The staff here is nice and friendly, and they do have the frequent manicure card where you can earn a free manicure after so many visits, I believe after ten manicures. i have visited Top Nails many times since I have lived in Milford (six years), and I recommend them.
PROS: Good quick manicure
At fifty dollars for an elaborate, top notch pampering manicure and pedicure, Gloss is the only place to go in my book! The pedicures are so relaxing you practically float to the manicurists table once they are done with your feet. My advice would be to stick to the classic package. My girlfriend went for the upgraded pedicure last time, and while her pedicure was a little longer than mine, it did not really seem woth the extra money to me. They steamed her feet with chinese beer being one of the differences between the Classic. I have been occasionally been treating myself to Gloss for the past three years, and boy is it worth the trip to stamford. Easy on and off the Merrit Parkway too, so it's a nice ride.
PROS: Great spa manicures and pedicures, not too expensive for the treatment you
I have been to Saint Vincents Immediate Health Care several times in the past two years for various illnesses and bug bites! they have always been quite caring and knowledgeable, and have treated me in a reasonable amount of wait time for a walk in, no appointment necessary, medical center. They are in a convenient location in Shelton, close to many office buildings and local companies. The office staff is usually quite nice too, and they have a good selection of current magazines to keep you occupied during your wait.
PROS: convenient Shelton location, nice doctors
Dr. Maiocco is a top notch physician who is very highly rated in Connecticut. He is often called in on rare issues at area hospitals, as I know he was called in when my Mom was in the hospital with some strange undiagnosed symptoms. I have seen this doctor several times in the past ten years, and he has always been caring and friendly, and has helped me with whatever issues I had experienced. The only downfall to this practice is that because he is so highly in demand, the wait time both to get an appointment and in the wait room is usually quite high.
PROS: highly rated doctor, friendly
CONS: hgih wait times
I have been a patient of dr. Soberman's for over fifteen years, and highly recommend him as a gyno and obstetrician. he joined Alliance for Womens Health and he now has a partner, who I also hear good things about. Dr. Soberman has a great bedside manner, he is direct, to the pint, yet caring and makes you feel quite comfortable. The only downfall to this practice is the office staff leave much to be desired! Honestly, they are slow, sometimes rude and I almost always have a billing error when i have an appointment which I need to follow up on afterward. But I think the doctor is worth it, so I remain a loyal patient!
PROS: Excellent caring doctor, great bedside manner
CONS: horrible office staff!
The staff at Shakespeare veterinary hospital is very caring and knowledgeable. After trying several local vets when I first adopted my last dog, we settled on Shakespeare because they really are the most caring around. They are a little bit expensive, but I guess most animal doctors are anyway. We took my dog here for care thorugh his death at the age of fourteen, and when I get another pet we will definetely keep our business here at Shakespeare. The office staff is very nice too, and the wait is usually not too long here.
PROS: caring and knowledgable staff and doctors
CONS: a bit expensive
David Byrne is the dentist that my son and I have been using for the past couple of years. My nine year old son (who is a gagger!!) really likes him, and Dr. Byrne doesn't seem to push him when he sees that my son is uncomfortable (for example taking xrays). We always seem to be able to get appointments someone soon. When i request back to back appointments it usually is booked about four to five weeks out, but in my opinion is worth it for us to go on the same day. The waiting room is small but usually not crowded at all. The office staff is very friendly and don't bother you for any paperwork.
PROS: nice dentist, good with kids, nice staff
CONS: well it is going to the dentist!
