I first discovered Carpenter Chiropractic Center and the wonderful Dr Collins after a friend referred me when my back went out. They are very easy to get a quick appointment at, the rooms are smartly decorated, and the care is top notch. The doctors and entire staff are very friendly and caring, and they make you feel very comfortable and secure. I can not imagine going anywhere else for chiropractic care, this center comes highly recommended!
PROS: great care, friendly and knowledgeable staff
CONS: none I can think of!
The Laurel School in Trumbull is a great preschool. They keep the children extremely active and happy, have caring and dedicated teachers, and the kids always seem to come home smiling. My nephew has attended this preschool and we enjoyed all the sories, crafts and activities he would share with us at the end of the day. I would send another child to this program without a doubt.
PROS: good staff, fun activities
CONS: expensive care
The Milford Orange YMCA offers before and after school childcare for the town of Milford, at most schools right on site. A few schools are bused to the YMCA facility on Orange avenue. My son has been enrolled in the five day per week after school program on his school's site for the past four years (kindergarden through third grade). Our experience with this program has been mainly satisfactory. There was one year we experienced slight problems due to careless counselers, but this has been corrected. The cost rises slightly every year, but the services are very helpful to working parents.
PROS: Convenient childcare services in a familiar environment
CONS: costly, quality of care dependent on couselers at your site
John Winthrop elementary school is in the North end of Bridgeport, and runs from Kindergarden through eighth grade. My nephew has attended this school since kindergarden and next year with be in eighth grade. He has for the most part had a good experience at this school, and educationally it is one of the best schools Bridgeport has to offer. The community at this school sticks together, and the teachers for the most part are caring and knowledgable.
PROS: Good school, good location
CONS: high class sizes
My son attended Busy Beaver for preschool childare about six years ago, I believe years 2000 through 2002. He attended three full days a week, and overall I was satisfied with the care they provided. They did not floor me however. There was a phase where my son was fond of sucking on the top of his shirt, and sometimes I would pick him up at the end of the day and this would have been neglected by the staff. They did put on several nice performances throughout the year, so that was nice.
PROS: Good childcare
CONS: Expensive as most are
Senor Panchos offers wonderful Mexican food, and the service is spectacular. We dined there with two adults, two children and one baby, and the service was awesome. They immediatly brought balloons out to the kids (even one for the baby!). The drinks were incredible, and the salsa and nachos were constently refilled without even having to ask! I highly recommend Senor Panchos, and will make a special trip to Monroe to enjoy the fine food. I saw they had some kind of frequent diner special gift package, be sure to inquire about that at the front desk.
PROS: Excellent food, excellent attentive service
CONS: Crowded at night, not a cheap dinner
Woodside deli is the place we go for breakfast sandwiches when I am at work. I have not experienced it first hand, but I hear the breakfast burrito is big enough for two, and is a great choice. I have had the protein power breakfast sandwich, and that is a great choice for carb counters! The service is quite friendly here, and you can call your order in ahead of time if you wish. We usually call ahead of time and our order is always ready when promised.
PROS: Great food
CONS: Can be addicting
If you go to Metro Grille & Bar, do yourself a favor and order the Nachos platter, you will not be disappointed. I recently visited Metro with some coworkers for happy hour one Friday afternoon. We started out with a couple of rounds of Pomegrantinte margaritas, very tasty. We then ordered the nachos, which were half chicken and half steak and completely delicious! The bar area is a good size, and we usually head to the front corner, which offers a bit of privacy but is good sized. The Metro is a great place to grab a drink after work.
PROS: great food and drink, nice atmosphere
CONS: sometimes slow service
4 Brothers Pizza is a good place to grab a Greek pizza pie or a Greek dish. I have had the Chicken Souvlaki platter, and I liked the tzatziki sauce alot. They offer a great family special, which consists of two cheese pizzas, a small salad, an order of fried mozzarella and a two liter of soda for just twenty dollars. I believe this is a pick up only special, but it is worth the drive when you are feeding a bucnh of kids or a family. They also sell pizza by the slice, so if you are in the neighborhood check them out first by ordering a slice or two to go!
PROS: fast service, good food
CONS: it's Greek pizza, so if you are strictly an Italian pizza lover not for you
Sloppy Jose's is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Milford. They have a very elaborately decorated dining room, with a fireplace and bar. They have great authentic Mexican food. The sals and chips are delicous, and are a great free start to your meal. The margarita's are tasting (they sometime have specials, ask you waiter). You really can't go wrong when ordering anything on the menu here, I have tried lots of different entrees and have never been unsatisfied. This restaurant is not cheap, but it is worth the slight splurge if you really love authentic Mexican food. They have tak out available too, but no delivery.
PROS: Awesome food, great decorations, fun atmosphere
CONS: Can get crowded, not exactly cheap eats
