Heights Massage & Day Spa

Houston, TX Massage Therapists 07/19/06: 'Massage for my birthday party'

I recently visited this private sanctuary with my friends for my birthday. It was such a surprise. We walked up to this cute unassuming house on the corner of Lawrence and 12th Street in the Heights. There was no signage except for a logo that read "Heights" on the front door. I had no idea who lived there or what was going to happen to us. All my friends just said was "bring your swimsuit and make sure you shave your legs the night before". (!!!) A woman named Missy opened the door and welcomed us into the house. Beautiful artwork hung on the walls and the scent of the place was immediate heaven. Three other women named Yvonne, Andrea and Laura gestured for us to sit down in these wide comfortable chairs to fill out forms. I still didn't know what we were there for because the place didn't seem anything like any rush rush spas I've been to before. My friends finally laughed and announced that I was being treated to a girls day out pampering for my birthday. They bought me an hour massage and an hour facial and we would all get the same treatment at the same time in different rooms. Different rooms? There were four of us, where did the keep the other rooms!? We were given a tour of the place. Unbelievable. You would never know the backyard was so spacious and the rooms seemed to keep going on forever. There were rooms in the main house, there were rooms in their back cottage, there was the swimming pool, a hot tub, a waterfall, a grotto cave (like the Playboy mansion!), a hammock, a tropical garden, there was even an outdoor bar & grill! All this and I hadn't even been touched yet! We were then each paired up with a therapist and off we went. My girlfriends whispered to me that they paired me up with "the best masseuse" because it was my birthday. When I was on the table I told Laura my friends told me she was the best and she WAS the best I had ever had. Laura told me that she felt that all the therapists had alot to offer. When she gets massaged, the other masseuses put her right to sleep which is something that is apparently very hard to do. All I know is, Laura told me it was ok to melt into the table. Melt I did. Only when she gently whispered in my ear that it was time to turn over for my facial did I realize I hadn't died and gone to heaven. Now I know why the girls fight over her.

Update: Since I wrote this a while back, another friend in the group had her birthday and we celebrated the event at Heights Massage and Day Spa too. The birthday girl got Laura and I had Andrea. Though Andrea's touch was very much her own, she too had hints of Laura-esque. I was very pleased with both massages and can't wait for another birthday party to give Missy's massage a try. Oh, and Yvonne is an artist all to herself as well. She gave an excellent facial and her knowledge of skin is amazing. My husband even mentioned how my skin looked great- he never mentioned that before! Maybe I'll bring him to the spa for a couples massage for our anniversary.
