Mint
excellent, superb, amazing, unique drinks. and food that changes weekly. in the bar (820) or in the restaurant, i have always had an excellent time and fantastic food. they have an avocado daiquiri - whats not to like about that?!
Ram's Head
of all the McMenamins, it is by far and away my favorite. it looks like nothing impressive from the street, but the cozy interior invites with couches and booths make for a relaxing and enjoyable time. the beer and the food are merely okay.
Lucky Labrador Brew Pub
it is a really special place. having the dogs running around in the summer while drinking fantastic beer has to be experienced. the food isnt anything special, but everyone that works there is nice as nice can be. the ESB is the best i have found anywhere. it can get kinda chilly in the winter.
PROS: the ESB
CONS:
Laurel Wood Public House & Brewery
interesting food (the portobello burger is fantastic). the beer is all excellent, and the seasonals usually impress. the kids, on the other hand, are completely out of control. it was voted the most kid friendly pub in portland, but for those without kids, or those that are not used to the noise, it can really suck.
PROS: beer
CONS: kids
Rogue Ales Public House
we dont go there weekly because it sucks. the beer selection is almost overwhelming. the food tends to the hit side of hit and miss. everyone that works there is kind as kind can be.
PROS: Shakespeare stout
CONS:
Vincente's Gourmet Pizza
they have the best pizza i can find in portland. its contemporary pizza, mind you. somewhere between your classic NY and your should-be-forgotten CA pizzas. they have a lovely beer selection.
Bonfire Lounge
true, the service can be a bit on the slow side, but the quality of the food and drinks faaaar outweigh the negatives. its the perfect place for a warm summer night. but during the winter, it can get a bit chilly, and smoky. they have a burrito with mango in it - whats not to like about something fun like that?
PROS: the hellfire burrito
CONS: slowish
Pix Patisserie
i have no complaints whatsoever about pix. everyone there is nice and courteous, the deserts are amazing, they even have a nice selection of beer and port that complement the deserts quite nicely. it is a true portland highlight.
PROS:
CONS: it can get pretty packed.
Office Depot
excellent and very courteous staff. and they do price matching against print and internet. if they got it, and you are in portland on the west side, its the way to go. but yeah, its kinda depressing inside.
