Hs Lordships Restaurant
Sunday brunch seems like Saturday's leftovers. HS Lordships on Sunday is a good place to watch people consume as much as possible in the LONGEST time possible. The average person goes thru about 5 plates in a meal. It's average food. Guess if you were about to go on hunger strike this is the place you'd stop beforehand.
Becketts Of Berkeley
It's a good bar with a great building but unless you have a hankering for "bangers and mash" I'd go to one of the other restaurants in the area (there's plenty) and go to Beckett's for a beer afterwards (especially if it's trivia night).
Cha-Am Thai Restaurant
Cha Am is good. It's just that there are now about 30 Thai restaurants in Berkeley so it makes the standard go up. When I was in college it was "the" Thai restaurant to go to. Now, unless your from Modesto, you'll be equally happy going to a number of other restaurants in Berkeley. It used to be considered (back in the 80's) one of the best Thai restaurants in the country, but now it's probably struggling to be one of the best Thai restaurants on the block!
Furniture Oasis
Being from the South Bay I can't really ding to many furniture places in the East Bay as they are miles ahead of the San Jose area when it comes to selection and price...
Furniture Oasis has moved around a lot. I've been up furniture shopping and have been to at least 3 different locations in the last 2 years. I think the on Solano has the best selection and is the oldest although I think it was under a different name.
I'm not sure what the style is. Is it Mission? Is it Asian? Many of the pieces have this "overworked" look to them. Almost too "clean" like they came out of the box.
The prices are not bad considering what they are but I just don't get the impression like it's going to make a huge "impact" in the home.
PROS: Area has a lot of furniture stores
CONS: This just isn't our cup of tea.
