P F Chang's China Bistro

Winter Park, FL French Restaurants 08/19/06: 'Nice change of pace'

Okay, IMO, the atmosphere here is very pretentious and poseur, with prices which reflect that mindset.
However, the food is good (for the most part) and I confess to having an affintiy for the specialty martinis (but NOT for the bartender who had the audacity to say "I just don't like making that one" when I ordered something different and pushed another choice on me.)
I do think we waited a bit longer than necessary for our entrees to be served. With that many staff on duty they should be able to deliver in a more timely fashion.
If it wasn't for the bar tender's bad attitude and the wait time, Id have rated this world class.

PROS: menu selection, taste, portion size
CONS: price, staff w/ bad attitude

Ayothaya Thai Cuisine

Orlando, FL Thai Restaurants 08/19/06: 'Another Thai Gem!'

Located in an upscale strip mall, this restaurant is a must for anyone who loves SE Asian cuisine. The service is good, portion sizes are awesome, flavour excellant. It is a bit pricier than other restaurants in the same category but still decent value.

PROS: portion size, flavour
CONS: a bit priceier than other area Thai spots

Thai Place Restaurant

Winter Park, FL Thai Restaurants 08/19/06: 'Excellant Choice!'

Hiding behind a plain facade in a shopping center is one of the best Thai places in town! You are given swift highly attentive service, inc. water and salad before you even order. Of course the portion sizes are good, flavour is amazing, and the decor is interesting/atmospheric. Great value for money. Highly recommended

PROS: great service, great food, great value
CONS:

Pho Hoa Restaurant

Orlando, FL Vietnamese Restaurants 08/19/06: 'Very Vietnamese'

If you like authentic Vietnamese cuisine, this is the place to go. In fact, it seemed to be the place where many of Orlando's large Viet population eats, as when we went, we were the only 2 non-Asians in a fairly busy building.
The food was tasty.
My biggest complaint was that the menu is almost entirely in Vietnamese, and our server's English was below average, so it was hard to know what we were getting.
Still, I would go back, and take friends.
Portion sizes are HUGE! Taste is very good. Great value for money.

PROS: tasty, great value
CONS: menu could be made clearer for non-Asians to know what items are

Johnny Rockets

Winter Park, FL Hamburger Restaurants 08/19/06: 'Unique Flashback Dining'

If you are in the mood for an old fashioned diner setting and good ol' diner burgers, this is the place. Nickel jukeboxes on the table, malt shakes, and period decor make this a fun place for a casual meal.
Food is average, malts are great, staff is usually friendly but sometimes not very attentive...but hey, it's a diner, and they're mostly teenagers.

PROS: fun atmosphere, great malts
CONS: so-so service

Famous Uncle Andys Sausages

Winter Park, FL Restaurants 08/19/06: 'Uncle Andy's Fits the bill'

Uncle Andy's is a no-frills dining experience but always fits the bill. Yes, it's limited to sausages... almost any kind of "dog" you can think of, w/ all the fixins available, inc. some unusual ones like gardinera and papaya curry sauce!
You order at the counter then sit down and they deliver your food to the table in good time.
They have free local magazines to browse while waiting and 2 televisions plus wireless internet access.
Perfect for a casual tasty treat.

PROS: good food, good value for money, friendly service
CONS:

Best of British

Orlando, FL Restaurants 08/19/06: 'Best Pub in the area!'

Best of Britain has a new location across the street from its original spot inside the soon to be demolished Mercado Village.
It continues to be a hot spot for UK denizens longing for a taste of home and is best known for its full fry breakfasts. They have added new menu items including 4 varieties of curry! and Coronation Chicken rolls, which I have found nowhere else outside the UK!
Full bar, drink specials, and all the footie you can handle make this a great hangout.
The only drawback is that, if you go at a busy hour, it's a long wait as they only have a small kitchen staff...but I'd say it's worth it.

PROS: good menu, friendly staff, location
CONS: long wait after ordering IF they are busy

Bahama Breeze

Bahama Breeze's I-Drive location has a nice atmosphere/decor. I liked their frozen cocktail selection and shooters. My food was tasty but my roommate was very disappointed in portion size and flavour of his entree.
We had a very pleasant server, but it took an extreme amount of time between ordering and being served, even though the restaurant was not busy at the time... I chose 3 stars for overall but don't go if you're in a hurry!

PROS: atmosphere, drink selection
CONS: wait time

Amigo's Original Tex-Mex

Winter Park, FL Mexican Restaurants 08/19/06: 'Amigos... que bueno!'

Amigos is a nice place to have a casual Mexican/TexMex meal. Be sure to try the margarita sangria swirl! Portion sizes are good, you get tortillas and salsa while waiting for your meal. Prices reasonable.
Vamos!

PROS: food, drinks
CONS: occasionally long wait for service

Borders Books & Music

Winter Park, FL Book Stores 08/19/06: 'Borders is tops'

The Winter Par Village Borders is the best of all the city's locations. They have great art exhibits/openings and althought the cafe is understaffed, they do the best they can, and I consider that a management issue not a reflection on the cafe servers themselves.
Drinks are great, food decent and atmosphere excellant!

PROS: location, events
CONS: understaffed, sometimes overcrowded and noisy
