The Abbey Restaurant
I have been to this restaurant several times and will not return. The restaurant itself has superb ambiance, but the food was substandard. In addition, I asked them to stop serving my already already obviously intoxicated companion. Instead, they allowed him to buy a $150 bottle of wine and continued to serve him until he could barely walk. They were unremorseful when I asked for help getting him out of the restaurant.

I tried really hard to like this historic hotel, but felt VERY unsafe in the neighborhood. The furnishings were nice and the restaurant was superb, but all in all, location is terrible.

Marriott-Savannah Riverfront
Can we just talk about the beds for a minute? Wow. This hotel is at the end of the Riverfront and has some very comfortable beds...Marriott beds! The room service was excellent and very good. I now stay at this hotel every visit.

Ritz-Carlton-Amelia Island
We spent New Years at this hotel several years ago (two nights lodging, private party, fireworks, lunch and breakfast). The party and food were world class. The breakfast spread was unlike anything I've seen anywhere else.It was 5 star.
PROS: Best New Years experience ever

Chocolate Canopy & Gift Shop
They LOVE their work here! This mom and pop chocolate shop is my favorite anywhere. They will tell you all about the chocolate and let you sample before you buy. They even have chocolate for diabetics made with manitol...don't worry if you forget what it is called - he'll explain what it is and why manitol is better.
PROS: Buying chocolate from nice people is even better
CONS: Weight loss after a visit is out of the question
Hilton Head Diner
If you are looking for a diner-type experience you will enjoy this restaurant. The breakfast is very good and a good value for the island. My daughter enjoyed it so much she bought a t-shirt!

I have been to this restaurant on three trips to Hilton Head. Each time I enjoy it a little more. There are interesting menu choices and it seems to be a place for locals.

Hudson's
If you like seafood don't leave the island without a visit to Hudsons. This restaurant on the waterfront has hush puppies to die for. Overwhelmingly seafood, landlubbers are out of luck.
PROS: Great waterfront location, good prices
CONS: Non-seafood eaters will be disappointed
Dollywood
I can't put my finger on it, but this much I know. Our family of four was in total agreement to leave after onlt an hour and a half. Maybe we are jaded by Disney, but there just isn't much to do here. We travelled a long way for a big disappointment.
PROS: I like Dolly, really, I do

Doubletree Guest Suites
I really like the location of this hotel. It is right outside of the parks and the suites are perfect for families. Downtown Disney is very close. Clean and well-maintained.

CONS: A little pricey, but not bad
