This florist is one of the most customer service oriented businesses that I have ever seen. They have this thing where if you order before 3 pm, you can get same day delivery. I have not found many florists that can do that. They are also great with centerpieces. We got one here one year when we were having tons of people over for Thanksgiving and it was truly a work of art. Expensive but not exhorbitant.
This is one of the largest retail spaces that I have ever seen. I think they turned a house into a flower shop. Nevertheless, this is in a great location on a main road. There is also a decent amount of parking around and many other shops in the area to visit. I am especially fond of their get-well-soon arrangments. They can also FTD anywhere in the world and the staff is very helpful doing that. During prom time, a lot of kids buy their flowers here. Oh, and last minute for Valentines at this shop is a no go.
This is a super cool and fun place to browse around even if you do not need to buy anything. It is always crowded and they seem to have the most exotic arrangments. Once, I asked one of the girls working here about where the flowers were imported from and she rattled off a list of countries a mile long - needless to say, I was pretty impressed. THe people here are also really excited about what they do and are willing to share their work readily.
While this place does a good job with flowers, they are great at sending gift baskets. Whenever I need to send something to let someone know that I am thinking of them, I send a gift basket from here instead of going for flowers. They have all sorts of cheese and chocolates and fun toys to put in the baskets and they will let you come up with your own items. They'll take orders over the phone, but I have found that it is easier in person. They also have a good selection of balloons but they are a little on the expensive side.
A girlfriend of mine booked a slew of us appointments here the night before her rehearsal dinner. While the salon was clean and they had more colors than I had ever seen, I'm sorry to say that they weren't really ready for the 6 of us that they had scheduled. They said that they were backed up from taking walk-ins and that we would have to wait. While it is nice that they take walk-ins, they should have been prepared for those of us who made real appointments.
CONS: long wait
The best part about the pizza at this place is the toppings that they have. While the dough and the crust here is pretty standard, they make some really fresh toppings. My favorites are the fresh tomato and basil or the marinated peppers and vegetables. I'm not much into pepperoni or sausage, but my friends say that it is ok here. As the previous reviewer noted, you can eat outside, which in the spring time is pretty fun. Service her is pretty fast and they rush you a bit when there's a line.
This is one of the Port Jefferson staple restaurants. It has been here forever and it pretty mediocre, but people still come anyway. The one thing that they have going for them is that they are on a main road, but at the same time they are right on the harbor. So if you are looking for meal with a view, this is a good place to come. The best place to park for this place is in the lot behind the Gap. Either that or walk here. The fried platters are decent too.
This is the on campus bookstore for Sullolk Community College. Like most college bookstores in the area, it is pretty expensive and overpriced. But if you are in a hurry and do not want to shop around for college text books, this is a good place to come because they have everything ready and waiting for you. This is also one fo the only places on long island where you can get Suffolk CC merchandise.
This is one of my favorite places for buying ornaments and decorations for the Christmas holidays. They have a wide assortment from classical to ultra modern ornaments. It can get packed around the holidays, so I usually shop way before Christmas or way after. They also sell goodies from other holidays and the staff will help you pick out what is appropriate. Parking here is pretty easy because they are located in a shopping center. This is also a fun place to shop with little kids.
This store is located in downtown Port Jefferson (down port for those from the area). This means that if you go during the summer when all of the tourists are out and about, the store will be very full and parking will be next to impossible. I love going here in the fall. The selection is usually pretty good and there are no out-of-towners. The staff is friendly but not overbearing. This place is also close to Starbucks, so it is always fun to buy a book and grab some coffee.
