Upon arrival at McCarty's, our party of 8 had to wait even though the restaurant was half empty. After being seated, our waiter, Alex, came and asked about drinks. One person ordered, another asked about a wine list (which should have been presented when Alex arrived at the table, or even as we were seated) and our waiter left to fill the 1 drink order and bring back the wine list, but never finished taking the drink orders from anyone else. He didn't return again for another 15 minutes to finish just taking drink orders. At this point, we had all figured out what we wanted for appetizers and dinner and we felt with our service starting off so poorly, we had better order everything now. For some reason, Alex seemed to have an attitude, perhaps he was just in a bad mood, perhaps he was supposed to leave and because a party of 8 came in, he had to stay...who knows, but he shouldn't have been taking it out on us. He was short and discourteous, even though we recognized that and everyone went out of their way to be light-hearted and make him more at ease. He definitely had an attitude for the entire evening and it was so obvious to everyone. We almost asked for a different waiter, which at the end of our evening, when Alex cleared the table and never came back to ask about coffee or dessert, we finally did ask for someone to come and just bring us our check. We had decided we didn't want to deal with his lack of service any longer. We went elsewhere for after dinner drinks and dessert.
This restaurant is far from inexpensive and for it's location on Palm Beach and the prices on the menu, I expected more on the service side. When you go to a restaurant on the Island of Palm Beach, you expect exceptional service. Perhaps this was a fluke, but I can't say that I will recommend this restaurant, nor give them a 2nd chance. One of the couples at our table has had a previous bad experience at this restaurant and that alone is good enough for me to not want to give them a 2nd chance.
Go ahead and try it for yourself. Again, perhaps Alex was just having a bad night. Request someone else for your waiter. I hope you have a better experience.
LOCATION IS CLOSED!! We were driving in Tampa and being from out of town we were looking for a Starbucks. Google showed this location, however this location in closed. Found a location on the corner of Kennedy and West Shore
While driving from TN to DC we were looking for a place to have dinner. I found the Pink Cadillac Diner on Google and wish I had read the reviews first on tripadvisor.com. The lady at the counter with the godawful haircut (looks like someone put a bowl on her head) and the even worse teeth yelled out, "we'll be with ya when we can," as we walked in the door. We looked around and there were at the very least a dozen tables empty. So, we though, maybe they weren't sitting anyone in this section. We didn't want to end up wasting another hour having to wait for a table, then ordering and eating, so we grabbed a waitress and ordered 2 sandwiches to go. She was a very nice lady and has probably worked there since she was a teenager. She took our order and I thought I'd give the restroom a shot...surprisingly, it was clean. I expected it not to be.
The waitress brought hubby's coffee out and my bottled water and told us we could have a seat anywhere. I said I thought people weren't sitting there...but apparently the lady who was sitting behind the register just didn't want to bother seating people.
Food was OK...just what you'd expect from a cheap diner. And, you really can't screw up a grilled chicken sandwich or a grilled cheese sandwich.
Would I go there again? No....I'd rather go have eggs over easy at Cracker Barrel and if anyone knows me, they know Cracker Carrel is way down on my list of desirable places to eat.
The Office, Prime Burgers, Craft Beer...one of the newest additions to Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, FL.
While attending a disappointing "Delray Affair" it was a bit warm and we decided to stop for dinner to wait until the sun went down and walking would be more pleasant. The menu enticed us inside and upon entering, I felt like I was inside a restaurant/bar that would be placed on a scene of "Mad Men."
The decor alone can keep you occupied for your entire visit, but the food and service are truly the star here. The napkins had a little button hole that you'd find on a man's starched white shirt and the cutlery was delivered in an "office memo" envelope, complete with the little string to seal it.
I had The Florida Blue Crab Burger, which was made with huge chunks of fresh crab (not that fake stuff) and given a little kick with some tiny slices of jalapeno (Which was a good thing, too much jalapeno would have been overpowering). My partner has a Prime Office Cheeseburger which he said was divine...perfectly cooked, juicing and flavorful.
The shoestring fries, while good, were not as crunchy as they could have been (we had asked for well done fries) and they got cold very fast.
The most improvement that is needed is in their sparse dessert menu, my partner had the peanut butter, chocolate ganache and raspberry jelly concoction, I had a bite, but it was not worth the calories and nothing else on the dessert menu was appealing, at least to me.
Will we go back again...I'd say that is a definitive YES!!
You definitely get a bang for your buck here. Large portions, average pricing. They really like to get you in and out as fast as possible. At one point it felt like the waitress was hovering over our table waiting for us to order, but we hadn't even had a chance to look at the menu yet. Food came out fast, salad was awful. Sweet potato was the tiniest I've ever seen, about the size of a tennis ball and bland....overcooked. We ordered shrimp, it was pretty good and plenty of them too. Our friends ordered all you can eat fried catfish and fried scallops, there was more than enough on one plate and no 2nd orders. Again the waitress rushed us out, didn't ask if we wanted coffee or dessert, just brought the check.
The place wasn't the cleanest, but I've seen worse. It's definitely a "down home" joint, probably a level below Red Lobster or the like.
Would I go again, probably not....just not my kind of place or food. Would I recommend it for someone who likes friend fish, bargain prices for large food, and who's not used to 4 and 5 star restaurants, yes, I definitely wood.
Me....I'll stick with what I like and go to the 5 star restaurants...yes, I am a food snob.
Joey D's is the absolute best. Whether you are going in for just a sandwich, or their home-made prepared foods you know you will get top-notch, first class food and the best customer service.
I had Joey D's cater our wedding reception and all of the guests simply raved about how incredible the food was! Once I put the food into Joey's hands, I knew it was something I wouldn't have to worry about and he came through with flying colors.
Plus, their bakery selection...well, it's almost impossible to walk out of there without some kind of sweet treat for dessert.
Spoke with Tiffany on the phone, she was very helpful. However, they do not rent tents as the previous reviewer said they did. Their pricing seemed reasonable as well.
Sweetwaters Restaurant and Marina is closed to make room for condos. The restaurant was sold to another owner and suddenly there's now a developer involved. Another instance of a beautiful nature area, Seabird Island, being ruined because someone got a big payoff. Only goes to prove that if you have enough money, you can get the rules of the games changed to suit your needs. Panera's food is almost always good, unless one of the staff screws something up. As a whole, the company has a good menu, good recipes and you can always be sure that everything is tasty. My issue with most Panera locations is the service, or make that really BAD service, but surprisingly, this location was very good. I've only been in one other Panera where the service was outstanding, the rest have way too many kids there that are more interested in fooling around then they are in doing things properly and the Managers are basically clueless as to the shenenigans going on. This location was right on the money, our order came out quickly and everything was done exactly as requested. Kudos to the Manager of this location for being on top of things! All I can say is go to Rip's, you won't be disappointed. Everything, from food to service is first class.
Sometimes you get lucky and find a little restaurant that provides the service and food found in those big fancy places and this is one of them!
