Torrance, CA Windows & Doors - Dealers 10/24/06: 'This is the worst service I have in my life'

Time is of the essence in this case because it is involved a vacant house waiting for this window/door installation before put in market. Karen was nice when she came to do the measurement and said that she would rush to have the installation in about 2 weeks. However, it didn't happen until 4 weeks. Then it took 3 more weeks for them to come back to fix the defects and problems. -- If I knew that it took this long I would not order this service.

Right after the worker finished installation and left, when I was cleaning the windows I found that there was a crack at least 6 inches long on the post of the patio door, the screen door had a gap at the top and could not be closed properly. (Later when the worker fixed it I found that it was due to short of a bottom track.) I had a feeling that they tried to get away these problems because they left without even mentioning there were problems. I called the shop the first thing in the next morning tried to make arrangement to fix these problems. I was told by Gilbert that the workers would come back to fix the problems in that week, which didn't happen until 3 weeks later. During this 3 weeks I had called Gilbert several times and stopped by the shop twice. Finally, when I stop by the shop, I made an appointment for 6 days later. But they called me and left a message in my voice mail at 4:30pm the day before the appointed date to tell me that they want to change the time from 9am to 4:30pm. I had other business to take care in that afternoon so I insisted to have the appointment at 9am, especially the time was set a week ago they should not change my time to give other job the priority. Gilbert said that I was not reasonable so that they would not come to fix the problems for me, and they will let the manufacturer,Atrium, to take care of my problems. I asked to talk to the owner or supervisor of the shop, Gilbert said that he would hang up the phone since the shop is closed for the day. I stopped by the shop and talked to the showroom representative, Joe, around noon after I finished my other morning appointments. I tried to explain that I was busy and I couldn't afford appointment change for every incidents. Joe was very very rude and shouted "shut up" to me. And he said if I say one more word their shop would leave the problems to manufacturer and it would take at least 6 months to solve these problems. So I shut up and he said he could have the worker come next afternoon. I asked what was the time their worker could come. He picked 5pm. Then the next day he called at 1pm and left me a message that the workers could come at 3pm. I had to change my schedule to accept his time because I was afraid the same thing would happen again. Finally I got through this hard time of window change process after 7 weeks -- especially the last 3 weeks.

The problem of this shop is that they can not keep any appointments they make, even it is the best time they picked up. They have changed all the appointments from the initial installation to the end fixing up the problems. It is a pain to work with this shop. Recently, I remodelled 2 houses. I worked with several contractors and handymen for different kinds of work. This is the worst experience I have. I will never use their service and will not recommend to anyone I like. You may refer it to someone you hate.

PROS: The workers are nice and punctual
CONS: They can't keep any appointments they make and they are vey rude.
