I have been to just about every tea room in the east bay and I always walk out saying, "It was good, but not a good as Captain's Cottage." There it is all about the atmosphere and the quirky lady who owns it. Being there is like visiting your kooky aunt. Good food and tea and unbeatable prices! I think it still cost only $16 a person for high tea which is the best deal I can find. Even if it were more expensive it would be worth it.

I love to take people here becuase no one clues in on the fact that it is a macrobiotic cafe. The food is so darn good. I could eat there every day and never tire of it!

I have tried both regular and vegan cake from them and they are wonderful. I have ordered from there a few times and Diane is so great to work with. I can throw anything at her and she just runs with it. She also offers suggestions to help me work within my budget without compromising what I want. She also does not try to tell you what you want. She is very competent and easy to work with. Truly and honest class act.
