Melting Pot Restaurant
For my review, I will just paste the email I sent through their website. I am hoping that this establishment will redeem itself with at the very least an apology for our evening. I will update this review if any actions are taken to correct our situation...
I would like to inform The Melting Pot of the poor quality, substandard service we received in your Greenville SC establishment this evening. This was our very first experience with your company, and I am sad to say, likely our last. First, we had a party of 13, and were seated at TWO separate counter height tables that only seated six people each. We requested lower tables, as several people in our party have physical conditions that make sitting "perched" that high quite uncomfortable, and as it was my sister-in-law's birthday we were celebrating, we all wished to be seated with her, in her company. We had a single child in our party, who we made mention of at the time of our reservation, and also noted her age. We requested a highchair for her, because there was not even a place to seat her at the tables, and the chairs were not safe for a three year old child to sit in unassisted. We were brought a regular height highchair, and considering how ridiculous the idea was that our niece should be treated this way, with her seat more than a few feet away from the surface of the table, her father ended up trying to eat with her in his lap. We had no other choice. Our server, "Jen" was only present at our tables to deliver the separate courses. She reviewed menu choices and cooking instructions hurriedly and her attitude seemed curt when all of our empty glasses were brought to her attention.
I literally cannot count the number of times that our individual water, tea, and sprite glasses remained empty for 5-10 minutes at a time. The last time my husband requested a refill of tea, our waitress poured and left tea that barely had a tint of color in the glass.
Also, two separate times our burners on our table was turned off. We could not get our food to cook, and as a result our lobster and shrimp were either undercooked, or overdone and rubbery, our chicken pieces were dry, and not eatable. We asked another lady who came to the table if our pots should be steaming like they were at the table the rest of our party was seated at. She checked the burners and said "Oh, they are turned to -off- for some reason." and turned them back on. This happened again when desert was served.
If this is the quality of service that your establishments routinely provide for the price point which you charge, I will never schedule any more special events with your company, and I will most certainly inform anyone who asks of our horrible service and discourage anyone who mentions eating at your restaurant. There are many more places in Greenville to have this type of dining environment in which service meets or exceeds expectations. These are the places I frequent with my presence, my money, and my praise.
