Broadway Grooming Clinic

Alphonso started out as my "back-up" dog groomer when I couldn't get in to my local one who books out 4 weeks ahead. However, I've often chosen Alphonso (and his assistant) first, because I can get my Shih Tzu in and out in less time and she always looks great and acts content both coming and going. He runs his shop a bit loosely, sometimes a bit late arriving for the first appointment. If you can live with that, you'll find a pleasant, very talented groomer and staff who take excellent care of your pet. His prices are fair and reasonable, not out of line with the going rates at several other places I've tried over the years.

El Caballo Mexican Restaurant

Alameda, CA Mexican Restaurants 02/12/07: 'Great Food, Good Prices, Good People'

El Caballo has been one of my Alameda favorites for years. I drop in for lunch or dinner whenever the urge for fresh, homemade Mexican food in a comfortable setting strikes. The restaurant has a lovely setting in the Harbor Bay shopping Center and feels almost like a family dining room. You might also try El Caballo Wraps on Lincoln Ave in Alameda near Paganos Hardware (at St. Charles Ave.). Again, tasty, tempting selections served hot and fresh.

The Whole Dog Journal

Oroville, CA News & Magazine Dealers 02/12/07: 'Hot Dog Topics'

Of all the dog publications I read, this is my favorite. It always has information that's relevant, important and useful. If there's something you need to know about caring for your dog, it's in the Journal (look in past issues for many topics still current!). The information is easy to understand. Their reports are well researched and written for the typical owner to read. They take no advertising so they don't have to slant stories to please their advertisers either. Overall, a wonderful resource. I keep all the past issues in a binder to refer to when questions pop up.
