Lowe's
My friend and I are both writing because we believe we know why the sales dropped for Lowe's in the 4th quarter of 2006 11.5%...IT IS BECAUSE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!! We have gone in numerous times to place orders for items to be installed in our home. Either no one is available or no one knows what they are doing. The few people you do find to ask questions are more often than not rude and patronizing. I myself placed an order for a countertop. The sales person lied to me saying Lowe's would charge $300 to install, but he would do it for only $100. I was not comfortable with that and chose to still go through Lowe's. Come to find out the installation fee was only $150 and the guy got so mad I did not go with him, he botched my order. He put in my telephone numbers completely wrong, which I feel was on purpose. When I complained to a supervisor, they made it clear they could care less. They took my number and after 3 weeks someone finally came and took measurements. They were nice and professional. Of course, they did not work for Lowe's. I was told to go to Lowe's a few days later and the measurements would be in. I waited 3 days and when I went no one could find my information. A supervisor told me someone would get back to me...I'm still waiting. After another month, I went in riled and ready to demand my money back. Shockingly (and I am being sarcastic when I say that) no one cared. I was telling my story to the person at the return counter and the entire time she was not looking at me, spoke to other people and occassionally threw a "I'm listening" over her shoulder at me. She even had the nerve to criticize another customer to me. Not the 1st time that has happened to me at Lowe's. She called the customer, who I found quite friendly, impatient. I retored, customers would be more patient if the store offered competent service. In the end, my money was returned. Lowe's took the loss on the cost of the measurements and another business was happy to take my money and completed the work professionally, efficiently and curteously. I will never again go to Lowe's for any service to my home. It may be a convenient store packed with a variety of items and services, but it is not worth the hassle. I would rather go to another place where there service is good and to top it off cheaper. My friend's worse experience was when she went to the windows department to order shutters. When she went in the 1st time there were a lot of people waiting for service. There was no one. She went to the front and was told 2 people were working there that day. When she returned and after another 15 minutes, still no one arrived. She had them page for someone and still nothing. A saleperson from another department came and told everyone no one was working that department after they had been waiting for 30 minutes and had been up to the front twice. She went home and returned 2 days later. That day the lady there was cutting some blinds and refused to assist me until she was done. She was taking a long time. Another customer, hit the button for service and she yelled at me that doing that would not get me service any sooner. At that point, after putting her in her place. I went and got my money back. Again, no one cared. Our opinion...why bother with this place. It is a pointless waste of time.
B H Extremo Limo
First off...these people are local and don't know how to get around. What kind of limo experience requires you to be on the phone more than half the ride guiding the driver?! Ever heard of GPS? Second, the ride was hot. The AC was not kicking in and the driver had to roll down the windows for us to cool down. The icing on the cake was when 20 guests and I were left stranded at 3am! The minute this guy showed up to pick us up he kept harping about not turning the radio volume past 30 because the windows would crack. In hindsight, he brought it up so many times I should have suspected something. Our ears could not handle the radio past 16; at 30 it would have blown our ears before the windows! I controlled the radio myself and was even asked to lower it below 16 so everyone could talk unless a favored song was playing. In any case, these people left us stranded at 3am without so much as a call or warning. When we finally got a hold of them, they claimed we turned the radio up so loud we cracked the window and the contract says they can leave us stranded for that without warning. Poor business ethic! Aside from the fact that no one was deaf after the ride, one of the guests saw the crack in the window when he first got in before the radio was ever turned on. Bottom line these people conned us out of over $1200 for the repair of a window that was broken before we even sat in the limo. We only paid it because our time is too valuable to go to court with the buffoons and we are not as hard up for this amount of money as this company clearly is. Furthermore, the deposit which we were told would be returned after we paid for the window was never returned. And truth be told, the Hummer Stretch they sent us was not impressive in the least. I don't recommend them at all and hope my next limousine ride makes up for this contemptuous experience.
Good Homes Pre-School Inc
This school opened 15 years ago and under the same owner, has been a second home to many children and families. Many of its children began at only 6 weeks of age as did their siblings, and either attended until they began Kindergarten or were in the Before and After School program until the age of 12. Those families to this day visit and some have other family member and even grandchildren attending now. Its owner IS there everyday. She is VERY picky about who works there and how things are done. The entire school is cleaned on a daily basis and more than once per day. Every child's class goes outside twice per day, unless it is wet or storming, in which case they take a walk under the covered walkway. At least one teacher per classroom has a degree in Early Childhood Education which is very difficult to obtain without at least some grasp of the English language. And a person who writes "They don't speak English GOOD" is in no position to judge another's proficiency in any language. And most of the teachers have been there for over a decade! The Health Department visits several times per year. The very public DCF daycare inspection records can be seen by anyone. I checked them. And this school has never been re-inspected for a violation contrary to some other daycares in the area. Food is never served straight out of a can, and lunch is always served warm expect for the dessert. I doubt the children would enjoy hot apple slices. The comment about changing diapers in the kitchen is so ridiculous I won't even address it. As for Barney, it is a learning program that the children get to enjoy once per week for one hour. There 2 TV's in the entire school and neither are kept in a classroom. Finally, I was there the day of the incident with the dog. It was NOT a stray dog. The dog belonged to a parent who brought it to the front office while waiting for their child to come out of his class and the dog came loose. Everyone around did their best to catch the dog before it went into a classroom. No children were left unattended. I feel very blessed to be a part of this school and challenge anyone to find a school more closely monitored, attended to and whose children are more loved by its owner and staff than this one.
