For a lunch spot on a sunny day, the French Crepe Company was very satisfactory. Fun to sit outside under an umbrella on a warm LA-winter day and watch the tourists. Plain sugar crepe for the 5-yr-old with whipped cream and powdered sugar, Genoa Panini and smoked salmon crepe for us, both tasted as good as expected. Prices are what you would expect for a tourist spot. The service was fine.
Considering it's a bar, this place smells great - really woodsy, thanks to the chunks of tree trunks used for tables and other natural elements. They have a fantastic happy hour from 8-10pm every night. Laid-back and fun. Parking can be a challenge so park in the neighborhood and walk a bit.
Sitting at the bar for dinner & drinks - service was prompt and professional. The food was good, mussels in beer broth, curried vegetable pie. The fish & chips could have been better if they'd had real British-style "chips" not US French Fries. The Village Idiot is a fun place to hang out but you have to get there early to get lucky with parking.
The front office staff seems harried and disorganized. They don't remember your name from one visit to the next (even if those have been close together). You have to make an appointment ridiculously far ahead of time. I felt like I was just another number in the system.
I was recommended to see Denise Noyer for acupuncture when my baby was taking his time in making his entrance to the world. I was told she has a high success rate and in fact, I saw her twice and I believe it did help a lot. My baby arrived the day following my 2nd visit. Her office is clean and welcoming and she is friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
Domingo's is an Italian grocery and deli. I needed some amaretto cookies and they had several kinds at various price levels. They also have Italian coffee beans. The deli counter looks really good too. I'm happy to support a local neighborhood store that has been around for years.
We love Garden Wok restaurant. Everything we have had there so far has been delicious. Even the soups are great - I actually like the mild flavor, and the kids especially like it. The staff is very friendly. Prices are very reasonable. Non-vegetarians will like this place too.
After searching on-line and at big-name toy stores for a bike for my daughter, we stopped in at Custom Bicycle Sales and finally found exactly what we wanted. We have also had our own bikes repaired there with excellent service.
The Encino Farmer's Market is open year round on Sundays from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Come here to shop for fresh and local produce. Some are certified organic, most are at least pesticide-free. The citrus stand at the far left side has delicious oranges and always gives out free samples. Discover new varieties and pick up old favorites. Do your part to support local farmers by coming here every weekend. The moon-bounce is a favorite with my kids.
The so-called "Slippery" Shrimp are not so much slippery as they are crunchy and saucy at the same time. It's sort of a sweet & sour flavor, really delicious. We find ourselves going back here quite often and also love the garlic eggplant and moo-shu vegetables.
