Whitehall Jewellers was one of many places we visited when looking for my engagement ring. Upon walking in, we were greeted by very friendly (not pushy) staff and felt comfortable looking through their cases. They have a very large selection of jewelry. We ended up purchasing my engagement ring and both of our wedding rings there.
When looking for my engagement ring, our original intention was to find a white gold ring with three diamonds (large one in the middle, two smaller stones on sides). Within seconds I spotted this ring that had a very different look to it. It had a very vintage feel. It definitely wasn??t white gold, but didn??t look like yellow gold either, which was great since I don??t like yellow gold. The gentleman behind the counter said it was ??rose gold,? a mix of copper and gold to give it the rose color. I fell in love with the ring; it was simple and unique. We left to go get a bite to eat then came back to purchase the ring. Still to this day, I have never found a ring that is anything like mine, even on the internet.
Whitehall Jewellers is one of the only places I have been able to find rose gold jewelry. I even have trouble finding it on the internet. They also have a very large selection of white gold and yellow gold jewelry. My fiance purchased a white gold wedding band.
Price-wise, they are very reasonable. We were able to buy my engagement ring, 2 wedding bands, and the warranties for under our budget for the engagement ring.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The gentleman we worked with was very patient with asking all of the questions we had about the ring. The paperwork for the rings was minimal, and my two rings were sent out to be sized, while my fiance??s ring was special ordered. My rings came back by the next week. We did have a problem with my wedding ring. One of the diamonds fell out. We brought it back and they ordered and sized another one for me with no questions asked. My fiance??s special order got a little messed up. The ring never came in, but when we went there, they reordered it and we received it a few weeks later. They were very helpful throughout the whole process.
I definitely recommend using Whitehall Jewellers. They provided us with great customer service, good prices, and beautiful jewelry. We couldn??t be happier.
The Bridal Suite was a serendipitous find for us. I needed bridal shoes quickly because I had an appointment at which I wanted to order the gown, the next day. We had gown out the Sunday prior, but it was fruitless, and we took a weekday off to hit all of the stores without the weekend crowds. We had horrible experiences in several bridal shops on New Dorp Lane and one shoe store in the mall. We wanted a simple shoe with a 3 inch heel, but apparently this wasn??t a simple task. We stopped home to eat a quick snack (now 5 PM, our trip started at 10:30 AM) and I decided to check the internet to see if we missed any stores. I was seeing the same names over and over and they were all stores we had been to. Finally, I remembered a shoe manufacturer??s name that I had been seeing a lot of that day. I typed it in and all of a sudden, a shop appeared that was located on Page Avenue. I didn??t even know one was there. At this point, all of the New Dorp Lane shops were closed, and the one we had gone to on Hylan Blvd. We figured it was a long shot that this place was still open. We called and she told us they are open until 7PM (they're open seven days a week, too!)
We took a ride over immediately. The store is very nicely set up, with everything displayed in beautiful lighted showcases. They carry a large selection of bridal shoes, headpieces, jewelry, veils, and other items. Basically, everything but the dress. One of my favorite items were these big, white, fluffy ??Bride? slippers. But I wasn??t here for that, I needed shoes. They had the biggest selection of bridal shoes we had seen thus far. I picked out a few pairs and asked the woman if she had my size. She did in each shoe and brought them out for me to try on. I found the perfect shoe; comfortable, 3 inch heel, peep toe. The woman was very helpful and we told her of our experiences at the other shops. The woman was very sweet and told us that she opened a year ago, after working for Kleinfelds for a time. She explained the different things she offers (she even does communion headpieces) and I definitely plan to go there for my headpiece and jewelry.
Everything was very reasonably priced. My shoes only cost me $50. I looked it up online and it was the manufacturer??s suggested retail price. I also found out that two of the stores from earlier in the day were overcharging by almost $40 for a pair of shoes we had been looking at earlier in the day. The Bridal Suite is dying my shoes to match my swatch for free, and also dying them black after the wedding at no charge.
I was very pleased with their service, selection, and set up. I highly recommend the Bridal Suite for any of your bridal accessories.
Dr. Perel, who practices at Alpha Neurology, is an amazing doctor. One of his specialties is the treatment of MS patients and he does an excellent job of it. He is caring and very soft spoke. He will listen to everything you have to say. Doesn't let anything slip past him.
The entire staff at Alpha Neurology is very helpful and pleasant. They are always great about getting pre-authorizations and appointments. I receive prompt return phone calls. Sometimes I have to wait in the office, but I don't mind too much. Dr. Perel is very busy but once he comes in, he takes as much time as you need. Very knowledgeable doctor.
I first discovered Matt's website in July, within days of us getting engaged. From the start, I loved his work. Photography was our top priority since it is the only thing that we will have to remember the event after the fact. You can plan the perfect fairytale wedding but it will only be a fading memory if you don't have the perfect pictures to document it. Scrapbooking is one of my main hobbies and was another reason the photography was so important to me.
The first thing I noticed about Matt's work was its originality. He shoots from such a unique and creative perspective. I have never seen anything like it. They are very emotional photographs. This is very significant, with wedding pictures especially. The day is all about love, celebration, and happiness. I want to see that in my pictures... not some forced smile in some terribly stuffy posed photographs. Every posed photo I have seen that Matt has taken, looks natural. Even better, it looks different. His pictures look different depending on the couple, and my fiance and I knew right away that he had a gift for capturing the personalities of his subjects.
Matt's website is great and is one of the things that made me know right away that he was the photographer for us. You can see samples of his photography in his galleries. You also have access to view the events he's shot online, just as the bride and groom will and their families. Many photographers just show you a sampling of their best shots. Matt puts it all out there for all to see. Every picture from the events he has shot recently. It says something to me about a person's character who is so up front with everything. You can look through the photos of his events and see that the gallery pictures aren't just rare lucky shots. They are happening in every event and it makes it very easy to picture what your pictures will look like (pun not intended). You can also view beautiful slideshows of these pictures or the latest albums he has put together. We even found our first dance song from one of these slideshows. Matt also keeps an update blog on his website, talking about his latest shoots. This is what really sold us. Through keeping up with his blog, we realized how much Matt reminded us of ourselves. He seems like a regular-tech-geek, offering ipods with our pictures pre-loaded and digital picture frames! What better than a photographer you can relate to?
Another testament to Matt's honesty, is that his FAQ answers EVERY question you could imagine. We had no questions during our 1st conference call because he had answered everything. I knew exactly what equipment he uses, what the plan is if he is sick, who will be shooting our wedding (ALWAYS Matt), etc. I trust the integrity of any business owner who lays out all of the information I need without me having to dig for it.
Matt shoots in digital format, using a Canon camera. The camera he has is freaking awesome. 17 megapixels, but I was even more happy about the fact that he uses a Canon. I've never seen a better processor than theirs and actually wanted to find a photographer that used Canon products. Matt uploads all of the pictures online for us and our guests to view, and order in color, sepia, or black and white.
Matt offers world class customer service. My emails are answered literally within minutes. He is so helpful and accommodating. His wife and him work together, and both are the nicest people you could ever meet. The two of them seem great together, and we couldn't help but laugh at how cute they were on our conference call; him calling her "honey." The both of them made wedding planning so easy for us, even being a few hours away. Matt contacted me within a few minutes of me filling out his contact form on his website. They were willing to travel to Staten Island from Albany. They were nice enough to let us know when someone else inquired about our date. They bent over backwards to mail us the contract, set up online deposits, and walk us through all of the legalities with our hall. I really can't even describe to you how pleased we are with their service.
Also, his prices are very reasonable. We are getting much more than our money's worth!
I highly recommend Matt Ramos Photography to anyone. His pictures are unbelievable. Customer service is unbeatable. Book him as soon as you can!
My maid of honor and I went to Macy??s Bridal Salon on our first day out looking at gown. I already knew I loved their designer??s gowns. We walked around looking at just about every dress, making mental notes of which ones should be on the ??try-on? list. The salon is very nicely set up. There is plenty of room to walk, with the dresses spaced out enough that you can view them easily. It is very well-lit. We were quite pleased since the shop we had been to earlier was just the opposite. It was a little hot in there, so I recommend dressing light if you plan to be shopping for a while. Some of the dresses in this Macy??s Bridal Salon were in bags, while others were just out on the racks. They had a huge selection of gowns ranging in just about every style that we could have imagined.
An appointment wasn??t necessary to shop, but the lady at the counter had told us to let her know if we want to try anything on. When we did, we were introduced to Fran. We were quite skeptical at first as she hurried us through the racks asking us which ones we want to see on and grabbing them, before rushing us into the dressing room. My maid of honor quickly informed her that this was our first trip and that we expected to be trying on quite a number of dresses to see what looks good and what doesn??t. Fran quickly vetoed a dress, saying that I don??t want that dress because it looks too old fashioned. I thought about it for a minute before agreeing, and she rushed to go put it back and get undergarments.
The dressing rooms are large, with plenty of hooks, a mirror and a chair in each. They have doors which the employees don??t seem to like to use. It gave me enough privacy, however, that I didn??t feel uncomfortable. Once the dress is on, you walk into a room with tons of mirrors and step up onto a platform to look at yourself in the mirror. There is room for two brides to be to try on dresses. When we went on a weekday in the afternoon, we were the only ones there and had this room to ourselves. When I went back on a weekend and a weeknight, the place was packed and there were other girls trying dresses on.
I saw a lot of size 10 samples, but quite a few other sizes as well. The samples were in decent shape. My dress was a year old already and it was showing wear. The samples were relatively clean but some of the details on the dresses were seeing the ramifications of being tried on so much. I don??t think it was any better or worse than any other bridal shop I had gone in up to that point or since then.
I tried on whatever Fran told me to. She began explaining what she been working in bridal shops for 30 years. She felt like she had an idea of what would look with me. By the time the gown was laced up, I was in shock. The dress she had put me in had accentuated every part of my body I liked, and hid all of my trouble spots. I LOVED the first dress I put on. Fran explained that the wrap around in the front gave me a longer look than a ball gown which would cut me off half-way and make me look stumpy. She explained why the gown??s structure accentuated the areas I liked. She knew exactly what would look good on me, which would have taken me many trips of trying dresses on to figure out, and even then, I might not have gotten it right.
But that wasn??t all. Fran said she has ??the dress? for me and left the room. She came back with a more classic looking dress. Same style, but the detailing was lace and pearls, with tons of details on the bottom and train. She was right, it was the dress. I never could have found it without her.
I went back two more times with different family members. All three times they allowed us to take tons of pictures, and I even have a picture with Fran and the lady who took my measurements. Ordering was an easy process. Price-wise, they are not too bad but I??m sure you could do better. I felt it wasn??t worth it for convenience. My dress is a strapless princess gown, with a wrap around. It is diamond white, made of Italian satin. It has lace, beads and sequence on the bodice, down to the waist, a bit on the wrap, and all over the bottom and the semi cathedral train. The gown has lace scallops at the bottom. The price was reasonable, although I did have to pay extra for a custom hollow to hem since I am so short.
Most of the staff was great, with the exception of 1 woman who was a bit terse when I asked her how much alterations generally cost after the fittings. She wouldn??t even give me a price range. They told me the gown will be in 6 months from the order date, and that I will receive a phone call when it is in. I ordered a swatch (no charge) and it came in within 2 weeks. Will update this when I receive my gown.
I have been going to LnR Beautiful Things since they opened on Richmond Rd, and even followed them when they moved to Amboy Rd in Great Kills. The store has a huge selection of "beautiful things." I go there for any gifts I need to buy. They carry seasonal decorative items, collectables, webkins, special occasions items (wedding favors, wedding keepsakes, baby "first boxes" like "first tooth"), hand-made arrangements, decor for indoors and outdoors, and even little items like beautiful compact mirrors and cute charms for your rear view mirror. The owners Carol and Deloris are very sweet and will bend over backwards for you. Anytime I need a gift, I go in and tell them who I am buying for, and they find me the perfect gift. Their prices are very reasonable. Very cute store. Definitely check it out!
Doctor Sceusa has been my primary care physician for 2 years. He is one of the most thorough doctors I have ever met. He is the reason I was able to get a very swift MS diagnosis, catching it right away and referring me to a good neurologist. He is particularly good at drawing blood and shots of any kind. Even though my veins are a little hard to find, he always gets it on the first try and never leaves a mark. A very caring and kind person. He is easy to talk to and listens to his patients. The office is very clean and the staff is great. I never have a problem getting an appointment nor getting in touch with him.
