First Main Street Florist
I was visiting Orange when I happened to find this florist. Im from northern ca and was down visiting a friend in Orange. I wanted to bring her a few cut flowers so I stopped off at the first flower shop I found. I must say, I think I got lucky, cause I was impressed. I wish I could find a florist like this in my area. First of all, their cooler was stocked full of gorgeous arrangements, second, their selection of gifts (they had a ton of cool different stuffed animals) was awesome, um, third, the lady that helped me was totally sweet and helpful (unlike most flower shops Ive gone to around my area). I ended up getting one of the arrangements because it was just too nice to pass up. It was very fresh and lasted my entire visit (almost 2 weeks). I totally recommend this florist to anyone looking to buy flowers in Orange. I may even start using them to send flowers from my area; at least I know Ill get someone helpful!
willow street pizza
Willow street pizza is a nice, kind of upscale restaurant. The pizzas are all designer wood-fired pizzas and are very good. This location has been here for a long time; I remember going as a kid. Its really a pretty well decorated place in a charming old brick building. I recommend it for anyone in Willow Glen looking for a sort of trendy Italian restaurant. Tip: Make sure to save some room for the killer home-made frozen yogurt place next door!
Tony & Alba's Pizza & Pasta
One of the best places for pizza in San Jose. Their pizza is just plain good. They are a bit pricey, and that stops me from going there that often, but I do go every now and again for one of their designer-style pizzas.
Adelita's Taqueria
I'm surprise Im the first to review this place; its popular and on a couple people I knows best burrito list. I used to go here at least twice a week; they have what I believe are the best burritos of any place Ive even gone to in San Jose. I made the choice to stop eating here because 4 times in a row, after eating my usual Carnitas Super Burrito, I got the runs BAD right after eating. And trust me, I have an iron stomach. Maybe its the ton of hot sauce I put on my food from the ketchup bottles they keep it in that does it; Im not sure. They really need to upgrade their cleanliness policy though; Ive seen the guy that makes burritos take out the trash and then go straight to making food. I sincerely hope this changes in the future, because I truly miss their food. Hopefully someone else can reply that their experience is different. If youre feeling adventurous, its worth giving them a try though, they do have the best burritos in the area.
Taqueria El Dorado
I've only been here once and I wouldn't go back. The place was clean, but the food in the heating "bins" looked like it had been sitting all day (dry and crusty). I gave them a try anyway, cuase I never read a book by the cover, and was unimpressed. The food was just blah, flavorless beans and rice, and nothing else to "spice things up."
Puerto Azul Restaurant
Puerto Azul is a good, authentic, sit down Mexican restaurant. I first tried them out after reading that they were voted best Al Pastor tacos in Willow Glen (by the Metro I think). I have to say that I agree with the Metro; there Al Pastor is quite good. Ive enjoyed everything Ive ordered. The dcor is decent; they have a fish theme with nets and a starfish hanging from the ceiling. They also have a large outdoor patio in front that sports a Taco Stand of its own (this maybe just at night). The only complaint I have is: with certain times Ive gone, they have Spanish Karaoke going on in the patio that is pretty loud, and it can get annoying. Also, they are right next to (connected actually) to a bar that can get loud (especially if they are doing Karaoke too. I wouldnt advise going on a weekend, unless fairly loud music is your thing.
Taqueria Tlaquepague
I haven't tried too many of their dishes because I always get their carnitas burritos (their Al Pastor and chicken is quite good as well). They are around 5 bucks and I must say they have the some of the best in town. I don't even try going during dinner time on the weekends though, they are too crowded. They do however have two other locations that are very close by: one is another small place about 4 blocks away on the corner of Curtner and Canoes Garden Way (where Jack-n-box is); and the other is a MUCH larger place (with a bar) on Willow Street near 87. They are all casual, everyday-type places and all have comparable food.
Guadalajara Market & Products
Guadalajara Market sells the biggest burritos you've ever seen in your life. I guarantee it. Thier tortillas are excellent and so are the burritos. They offer a wide selection of meats (more of the variety I'd never try), but all the ones I've had were tasty. If you're looking for a GREAT value (easily two meals for most people) or think you can power down one of their massive burritos, give em a try!
Burrito Factory
I've only eaten at this restaurant a couple times, but each time I've gone, the burritos were above average. Nothing to write home about, but good nonetheless. The reason I don't go there more is I have some doubts about thier cleanliness. I was a little iffy when I looked at how they kept their food and sure enough I didn't feel too great after I ate there; both times. Maybe it's just me, I don't know. Too bad, because it seemed like their food wasn't half bad.
Aqui Cal-Mex Grill
I enjoy going to Aqui's quite a bit. The resturant is very well designed with cool art and decor. They have a nice outdoor patio with a small fireplace, fountain and heat lamps. I have tried quite a few of their dishes and each one has been very good. They have a good selection of creative daily specials and, overall, their prices are excellent. I highly reccommend whichever soup they happen to be serving, they have all been wonderful. The low down: Large creative dishes, great prices, healthy menu selections, tasty custom desserts.
