Dined on the deck of Lola this Friday with friends and had a great time. Loved the guacamole prepared table side and waiter was great. Specialty tequila drinks are tasty but a bit small for $10 a rock glass. We were happier ordering up mojitos and getting double the drink for the same price. Food was really good. Full snapper was delicious and flaked off the bones with a fork. Cherry ribs and scallops were also good dishes. Really great atmosphere outside and the downstairs bar inside looked really cool (although no one was there when we were eating at 7ish).
I'd go back to Lola.
When my old acura got rear-ended by a drunk guy in a pickup, let's just say the pickup won. I brought it to Tony who quickly got the new parts to replace the back fender and tail light pieces, and paint it up looking good as new. Was easy to deal with him and he operated directly with my insurance.
CLOSED. Everyone knows blockbuster but the folks who work in the San Carlos location are always really friendly to my kids and helpful. They do a good job of having plenty of the most popular movies.
When driving from the Manchester airport towards Peterborough to visit my folks, I often make a stop at the Weathervane to get my Lobster fix. Lobster bibs, boiled lobsters with corn, wet&dry's to clean up and a Sam Adams. Friendly service and works with kids.
I tried La Briciola for lunch with a group of friends from work. We were drawn in by the modestly priced lunch menu ($8 to $9 for pasta dish with salad or for any one of 4 paninis with fries and salad.) Food was very authentic, basic, tasty italian fare. Waiter, who was Italian, was attentive and professional. I had the pasta bolognese which was good an appropriately sized for lunch and the price. I would go back.
Kabul is tucked away in an old strip mall off of El Camino in San Carlos. Don't let the exterior stop you from trying this place though. Inside they've tastefully decorated the large dining room Afghan style, the food is phenomenal and the service is very friendly. You haven't lived until you've eaten their Aushak (leek and spring onion-filled dumplings topped with yogurt, meat sauce and mint). Heaven. The first time I ate here the waiter said that much of their menu is the type of food you'd have at an Afghan wedding. A bit of a quite, serene setting so go early if bringing kids. They do take-out too. I would recommend it.
Good food and kid friendly too. Solid assortment of salads, burgers, pastas, and specials of the day. Nice setting with outdoor seating. Some customers come by horse! We like coming here in the summer and sitting outside.
Had a fun dinner at the Salt House. Here were the pros:
- Excellent, friendly service. Waiter was really nice and helpful in pointing us to the right dishes. Manager was really nice and chatted us up.
- Great Mojito's
- Pork Belly Appetizer is a must. Here's a hint. Break the poached egg on top and mix up the whole thing before eating. What's not to like about poached egg and pork. Heaven
- Good wine list
Why not a 4 or 5 star? The entrees were just ok. I had the duck and it was satisfactory but not at all exceptional and cost somewhere around $26. My wife had the gnochi which was fine.
My wife and I tried out the Cask this weekend and really enjoyed it. You can go for flight of wine and dinner, or just go for a glass an appetizers before dinner. We did the dinner. First the wine. Great flights of wine offered ranging from $14 to $20. Their flights are generous (3 half-glasses). They also allow you to mix and match a bit if you want. I picked the "Lucious Reds" flight but substituted a heavenly Souvereign Chardonnay for my first glass to go along with the our first course. For food, they've got a range of cheeses and charcuterie, as well as a few small plates and usually one or two entrees (a fresh fish and a pasta dish the night we went). The cheeses are great. I recommend the 3 cheese plate (you can pick from a long list). Each cheese is served with it's own sauce/jam and crustini bread. Really top notch. We got the bbq shrimp small plate which was ok but a bit drowned in the sauce. Salads were good and flatbread with sausage and goat cheese delicious.
I had two large trees in my backyard that were starting to grow out of control. I reached out to a few different businesses for quotes. Johnny at Bay Area Tree Specialists called me back within about 10 minutes and went over to my house the same day to give me a quote. He suggesting thinning and trimming the trees rather than the more expensive and unnecessary tree removal. His quote came in at half the price of his competitor for exactly the same service ($600 less). He came out the next day with a team of four guys and did the work. Really made a huge difference to the view in my backyard and the look and health of the trees. They were fast and did great clean up. Even came out again when there was another limb I wanted removed and did that at no extra charge. They did all this without my even being there and followed up the next morning with a courtesy call to make sure I was satisfied. I would definitely recommend Bay Area Tree Specialists and use them again.
