Skillings, Charles, MD - Unity Health Ctr
I have been using the Unity North clinic for several years and am very content with the level of service I receive there. I see an internal medicine specialist (Dr Shetty in Internal 1) and he is a very competent and caring physician who accepts several different insurance plans. While at times he is very busy you can often get an appt within a week to see him. He actually takes the time to talk with you and is not afraid to perform tests or refer you to other doctors if the need arises. He will also write prescriptions for several months at a time so you do not have to return each month and see him while paying for another office visit just to get a refill. Some other Doctors have been known to do that in this area.( as a certain female Doc in Tecumseh does). I would highly recommend him and his staff, they do a great job. I also use the Clinic Pharmacy which is on the first floor as you walk in to the clinic. They are very nice, professional and will quickly fill your RX and have you on your way.
Urology Associates
After making a midnight trip to the Emergency Room in Shawnee for the severe pain of a kidney stone the ER Doc recommended U.A. (Urology Associates) and since I had a very large stone that was not going to pass the normal way it was imperative I see a urologist very soon. They set me up an appt to see a doc the very next day. Even though I was in quite a lot of pain the Doc was a bit peeved that I would ask for some medicine for pain and I ended up getting a shot of Demerol in his office and then I was sent to the hospital (Deaconess) for removal of the stone, and the insertion of a stent into my kidneys. Again I was not given any pain medicine and had call and request it after the procedure. I was grudgingly give 12 tablets of something and had to make due with those. Not sure why he was so against pain medication but next time I will find another Doc without opiate phobia. All in all it was not a pleasant procedure.
Country Boy
I shop at Country Boy for almost all of my grocery items. i usually visit the store 3-4 times a week and always find what I am looking for even though the store is in an extreme rural area. Their meat and produce is always fresh and tasty. They carry just about everything you can think of, even the new to the market items. One of the best items (my own personal favorite) they have is 'No Mans Land' beef jerky. This stuff is just great. The only other place I have been able to find it is online at the manufacturers website. So in closing Country Boy has everything you would expect to find in the big city grocery stores except the traffic and congestion. This in my book is a big plus! Also, they have a gas station on site with extremely reasonable prices and if you are a woman alone they will even pump the gas for you. Find that in the city! Also as of April the 1st 2007 a Sonic drive-in has opened across the highway from Country boy. What more could you ask for. Great store, great prices, great selection and great service.
