My friends and I gathered here for a group study session and found that the place awesome. There are cute couches and lounges everywhere, indoors and outdoors. There are outlets available for hooking up your laptop battery adapter. The environment is very relaxing and there's good music in the air.
The only downside is the (lack of) food! We met up on Sunday after 5 and there was almost NO real food being served. All the drinks were at least $6 (including lemonade!) and they don't serve sandwiches on the weekends. :( We ended up leaving and getting food at another place.
Although it's a fairly small venue, this chinese restaurant is excellent for dinner! The service is a bit slow but it's worth the wait. It's also not the most attractive or decorative restaurant. I ate there with my mom, ordered 3 dishes and cost us about $30. I highly recommend the honey dipped spare ribs or plum-sauce ribs. Simple but delicious!
I used to come here when it was under the old management. The Korean owner was very friendly and always gave me a discount on top of the already affordable prices. But under its CURRENT management, the prices are ridiculously expensive! I paid over $40 dollars to get 6 items dry-cleaned. Plus, they wouldn't give me a discount at all. I wouldn't recommend this place for someone who needs to get their clothes dry-cleaned on a weekly basis.
Pho Pasteur has the fastest pho service that I've ever seen. This has to be one of the most popular pho restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley because hundreds of customers go through every hour during lunch time.
The food is very good for what you pay (around $6 a bowl). My parents and I come here to eat almost every Saturday so that should tell you how much we like the place!
Vermicilli with grilled beef and shrimp
Broken rice with grilled pork, shredded pork and egg loaf
Daikokuya is a MUST if you are visiting Little Tokyo for the first time! The restaurant is famous for their delicious ramen bowl which comes with a hard-boiled egg, pork-based soup, pork slices, bamboo, and lots of chopped green onions. It's simply delicious and I've recommended this place to so many of my friends.
If you are a big eater, I recommend the Combination special with the ramen and teriyaki chicken. It always comes with a cabbage salad with delicious miso dressing!
But because the restaurant is so small, seating is very limited so get to the restaurant early!! Anytime before 7 is optimal because the waiting list can get extremely long.
I went to Jenny Nail to get a french mani + pedi and were surprised at how detailed and attentive they were with my nails. They did a great job, spending over an hour with me and every customer! All the other nail salons that I've been to in El Monte have rushed me through and did a really sloppy job on the nails. Jenny Nail did an incredible job and leaves your nails looking beautiful and professionally done.
The price is a bit more expensive than other salons (I got a mani + pedi with two flower designs on my toes for $31) but it's well worth it! The ladies are so friendly and welcoming. This is definitely a place that I recommend to all my friends!
