Absolutely Puppy
We purchased a puppy from AP in 2004 and had an awful experience. The KOMO story this week made me realize that I should post our story as well.
We purchased a female Mini Schnauzer for about $700. We didn't pick her up for a few days and the day after we got her home, she became very ill. We took her straight to our vet, who was gravely concerned and admitted her immediately.
We called AP and got the same story as everyone else (see other reviews). AP said to bring the puppy back in and that they would take care of her. On the phone, Carolyn was obnoxious and heartless. Having a very bad feeling about her and AP, we decided to pay for our vet to treat the puppy.
Our puppy was diagnosed with Parvo a couple days later and the vet was extremely concerned that she would not survive. Our pup was extremely ill (in the animal hospital and on an IV) for 4 days and then got better very quickly (over the span of 24 hours). She is now a happy & healthy 4-year-old.
In the end, we were not only out the $700 we paid AP, but we paid over $2,000 to the vet out of our own pockets. We have no doubt at all that our puppy would not have survived if we brought her back to AP.
Out of concern of the other puppies, we called AP and told them that the pup had parvo and they should isolate the rest of her litter. AP told us (in so many words) that our vet didn't know what they were talking about and the rest of the litter was fine. Given how contagious parvo is, their actions are irresponsible at best and could be considered animal cruelty.
I really hope that King County Animal Services shuts this place down. Honestly, I don't know how AP's owners live with themselves running such an awful business.
