Madison Avenue Intl Salon

Chandler, AZ Beauty Salons 05/27/07: 'Call ahead...'

My favorite place to get my hair done since I moved to phoenix. I always get a great hair cut, so I don't even bother going anywhere else, even tho they are a little pricey. Super friendly, too.

Big City Bbq Barbeque Catering

Tempe, AZ Barbeque Restaurants 05/27/07: 'Love their BBQ!'

I think this was the original, and in my opinion, the best. The Mesa location came later. The BBQ sandwiches are great, and the sweet potatoe pie is pretty good. The staff is friendly and the prices aren't too high. They might be close cuz of construction right now.

Changing Hands Bookstore

Tempe, AZ Gift Shops - Tempe, AZ Book Stores 05/27/07: 'Great selection, okay atmosphere'

I do like the selection in this bookstore, but the lack of sitting and browsing areas is a minus. No matter where I pause to look, I'm in someone's way! Maybe you're supposed to buy them first and go next door? Having visiting guest-speakers (writers, artists, politicians, etc) is pretty neat, too.

Borders Books & Music

Mesa, AZ Book Stores 05/27/07: 'Yeah, it's a chain, but...'

This is my favorite bookstore to sit around and read and hangout. I don't like their Seattle's Best Coffee (too mild and milky by far), but everyone's really friendly and the atmosphere is great for browsing and relaxing. They also have a pretty good selection of DVDs.

Xtreme Bean Coffee Co.

Tempe, AZ Coffee Shops and Diners 05/27/07: 'Awesome coffee!'

One of my two favorite coffee places in the valley. Their coffee is consistantly great and the whole place is pretty cozy. The free wireless is a nice "perk", too.

Music Store

Mesa, AZ Musical Instruments 05/27/07: 'Confusion?'

I stop in here for reeds all the time, and my friend worked there last summer, so I've been there alot. I have no idea what those reviewers are talking about.
1) The owner is hispanic (I doubt he discrimimates against mexicans).
2) They don't even sell pianos.
3) They do have violin strings, reeds, sheet music, tons of books, etc.

Are they talking about a different store?
