So after many years Eureka Natrual Foods has a big new store, and it's nice. Their selection is good fro a natural foods store, but like the Co-op and Wildberries, I seem to need to go elsewhere to get that one or two other items half the time I do serious shopping. I hadn't been there in a long time since I had bad service experiences at the old place. I tried out the new store and thought it was an improvement in environments, definitely a Whole Foods, knock off design, not that thats bad. Unfortunately, my experience with service was really bad. A pissed off checker having serious hostility issues with the older couple in front of me, him being borderline rude to me, and flat out rude to the woman behind me in line. Prices decent, selection good, service ...too poor to go back again.
My wife and I have taken our pets here many times and we can't be happier with the personal and freindly attention we have recieved. I don't really shop around for pricing when it comes to our pets health, so I can't speak in that regard, but the people here have been extremely accomidating, and have gone out of their way on more than one occasion to help us with our pets medical needs. Easy appointments and easy drop ins.
Northtown is a great college town bookstore. They aren't all that large, but they have a great selection. what they don't have will be ordered asap. Best of all they host wrighters for special readings and discusions regularly. Oh yes, check out he un-faced free magazines in the box by the door.
Of the few really great local resturaunts, Folie Douce has a fixed place in my gastronomic heart. Their eclectic California cuisine always has something for everyone. The creations are slowly (perhaps a tiny bit too slowly) revolving and are almost always very well done. past favorites of mine are the Roquefort steak and creme brule (the best I've had).
Miller farms has got my vote for the areas best nursery. Their staff is very helpfull and the selectionis great. Piersons in Eureka has a similar selection, but the sevice at Miller farms is unbeatable.
Of the local grocerie storesI tend to most frequent Rays when I'm in the area gatting provisions. Their slection, prices, customer service, and cleanliness can't be matched in my opinion.
