Schuck's Auto Supply

Wow, I couldn't believe that they would hire people that don't know a thing about cars. They have minimal knowledge when it comes to cars and common sense, and don't seem to care much about their customers.

I was here a few years ago, so it MIGHT not be the same.. but I doubt it. I came in looking for new headlights and bulb sockets for my car. After having to wait several minutes for someone to help me, a older lady walks up and eyes me head to toe. I ask her if she works there and she replies with a "YEP". Well, I asked about the headlights and sockets.. She goes on to tell me that auto parts stores don't carry that sort of thing and that the best way to get those parts was to visit a junkyard. I couldn't believe what I was hearing lol. Anyway, I went over to a store in Wenatchee (Jerry's I believe.. can't remember the name) and the guy was nice and courteous. He found everything I needed in a matter of seconds. I'd avoid Schucks, but like I said.. it might be better now.

Mervyns

Downey, CA Department Stores 09/07/07: 'The Wal-Mart of department stores'

GOOD LORD!!! This place is the MESSIEST "department" store I've ever been in!!! I couldn't believe how much crap was all over the floors. Just about 97% of the entire merchandise was either a) on the floor b) unfolded or c) in the dressing rooms.

Speaking of dressing rooms... I guess people mistake them for bathrooms because they reeked of urine and feces.. gross! I call this the Wal-Mart of department stores because you CAN indeed get a good deal here, but will likely have to put up with millions of unruly kids running wild throughout the store, and have to put up with all the ghetto-ness that is Mervyns. We did find the pants we were in search for, and at a reasonable cost.. but I don't think it was worth having to put up with the mess, wild kids, LONG lines at checkout, and having to witness stupidity by the employees there.

This lady asks one of the employees there to help her find her lost kid... Well the girl behind the counter is like, "Uhm, hold on... there's a huge line here!" LOL, yeah... messed up. Another thing that bothered me was that we had to wait about a half hour to pay for our stuff. There were about 10 employees walking around doing nothing.. while 1 person rang everyone up. Ridiculous. Avoid this place like the plague, UNLESS you are completely broke and don't mind buying clothes that smell like urine.

Quick Auto Svc Ii

Downey, CA Auto Repair 09/07/07: 'One of the best mechanics I've ever been to..'

I've brought my car in a couple times to this place and have been extremely satisfied both times. The guy (Mike) knows exactly what he's doing, and doesn't have a problem with people asking him questions. He might seem a little aggressive at first, but he means well. His prices are a little higher than usual, but he says it's because he doesn't use crappy parts. This, is something I can actually vouch for. I looked at the part he replaced in my car and it is indeed a high quality part. He stands by his work and doesn't have a problem with anyone bringing their car back if need be. I've never had to do that since he always got it right the first time around. I'd highly recommend this place. There's a Jack-in-the-Box right across the street which has it's windows facing the place, so you can actually spy on him working on your car LOL.

Autozone

Norwalk, CA Auto Parts 09/07/07: 'Don't know why I even bothered..'

I've always heard about how rude the people at Autozones can be, but I went anyway. I've also always heard about how cheap their parts and accessories are... but I went anyway..

Well, I wont ever be back. The plaza in which this place is located is dirty, full of people loitering outside. The buildings aren't even more than a couple years old, yet.. they seem so dirty and ghetto. As I walked to the door... these guys that were just sitting around offered to sell me a car stereo. That's when I double checked that my car alarm was on and tried to hurry up. So I walk in and there's no employees around. I needed a PCV valve for my car, and needed to know exactly which one it was that I needed... but no one around. Well after about 5 minutes someone finally shows up and rudely asks what I want. I tell her what I need, and she looks it up and tells me that they don't carry PCV valves.. and that they would have to 'special order' one if I wanted one. I asked her if she could recommend anywhere else and she told me, "No, auto parts stores never carry PCV valves". LOL. Well, I drove to my nearest Kragens Auto Parts and the friendly guys there helped me find the exact one my car needed in about.... uhm.. 20 seconds. I'll never be back here. Their parts are of cheap quality, their service is extremely bad, and the area scares the crap out of me. Avoid this place.

Kragen Auto Parts

Norwalk, CA Auto Parts - Norwalk, CA Auto Repair 09/07/07: 'Very pleased'

This store is brand new (maybe a couple months old). It's extremely clean, and the store itself is fairly big. The staff there seem like they wouldn't be as nice as they really are. I walked in and saw the guy on the phone, and I expected to stand there while he got off. Well, he greeted me and asked what I needed. He looked it up in a matter of seconds and was nice about telling me exactly where the part I was looking for was. Although, it would've been nice if he just hung up the phone.. he didn't seem bothered by helping me. They have a huge variety of things and they are organized in huge aisles. I found the part in a matter of a few seconds.. as opposed to AutoZone, where it took me 10 minutes for someone to help me, and then for them to tell me they don't carry pcv valves. Anyway, this is the nicest, cleanest, and friendliest auto parts store I've been to in a LONG time. I didn't get any of the 'OH WE KNOW MORE ABOUT CARS THAN YOU' attitude AT ALL. I'd highly recommend this place for people who don't know much about cars and are easily intimidated by know it all auto parts guys.

Pep Boys

It's a fairly large store with lots of tools and car accessories. The customer service here is good, and they've never had me waiting around when I need to ask a question. The auto repair center is what I mostly visit when I come to Pep Boys. As someone said earlier, they've got a huge selection of tires and have great prices. I have been buying all my tires for years here because of this and have never had a complaint. You can get a really good deal on some decent tires, or purchase all the Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli etc.. I've had other work done here, and they just do things right. No need to bring your car back because they didn't do something right, and that's what I like about this place. I'll drop my car off and usually go and have lunch at the McDonald's close by, or sometimes the Jack in the Box across the street.

Chinook Music Svc

East Wenatchee, WA Musical Instruments 07/13/07: 'Very small selection'

I came in once to buy some guitar strings, and just felt like I was bothering the two guys that were working. I also asked if they were hiring, and they looked at me as if I offended them or something. I've never been back.

Crossroads Animals

Norwalk, CA Animal Hospitals 07/13/07: 'Our vet recommended this hospital'

Our dog slipped a disc in her neck and we took her in. The staff was very busy (it was a sunday afternoon), and they were a bit preoccupied with other things. Although we just walked in, we were attended to by a doctor within about an hour. The building looks nice and modern, and very clean. The waiting room inside could use a bit of sweeping and such, but nothing too bad. The doctor was very busy, but was really helpful and understanding with our situation. On our way out, the girl at the desk didn't explain any of the meds.. so I had to call afterward, and she had me on hold for a while. I'd have to think that if I brought my dog in, in the middle of the night when they aren't so busy, this place would be outstanding. Also as you can expect, it's very expensive here.. but our vet was closed, so we had no other choice.

Pieloon Restaurant

Downey, CA Caterers - Downey, CA Restaurants 07/13/07: 'Highly recommend it'

We've been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed with our food or service. I've tried their prime rib and their burgers on a few occasions which were very delicious. We have never been here for breakfast, but from I hear they've got mouth watering omelettes. The price is just right, and the wait staff is very nice and friendly. I wish the place was a bit bigger, since it could get a little packed at times. Parking isn't really a problem, although their lot is very small... but you can always park in the mall parking which is just a few feet away.

El Pollo Loco

Norwalk, CA Mexican Restaurants 07/13/07: 'It's not like it used to be..'

The food isn't the same since the original owners sold it to a much bigger company. Their chicken isn't as juicy as it once was, and that's probably the reason why we never come here anymore. This particular place is okay, but it's nothing special. They do keep it nice and clean though. Their drive-thru is convenient, but sometimes the orders get mixed up while using it.
