I've been a vegetarian since 1995, and have been here a few times in the hopes that they will improve and start offering better fare. No luck. It's all just unremarkable. I love great vegetarian food and wholeheartedly believe in patronizing restaurants that offer it (heck, my husband and I took our honeymoon to Toronto specifically for the vegetarian restaurants!), but I can't justify the cost for the mediocre food. I make better stuff at home, and I'm no chef. I keep wanting to like Seva, that's why I go back and try again. Unfortunately the price helps remind me why I'd stayed away so long, and then the food emphasizes the point. I respect that they're all-vegetarian, really I do. I want to see more vegetarian restaurants. But I can't see this place winning too many converts. It's a pretty atmosphere, though, I'll give them that.
I'm a vegetarian, so my review probably won't be helpful to most people hoping to visit this restaurant. I'd been excited to go here, hearing that they had vegetarian options, which Le Dog did not (boo! hiss!). But upon ordering their tofu dog, I was surprised to find it was a long rectangular piece of tofu, not the tofu pups I was used to eating that actually looked like hot dogs. This didn't bother me initially because I'm one of those oddballs that likes tofu quite a bit. So I treated it like a regular veggie dog, put mustard on it, and bit in. Bleah! Was the tofu expired? I don't know; it just tasted incredibly bad. Now I'm not picky; I've eaten some questionable stuff in the past. But this wasn't right. My husband got a tempeh burger that was pretty good. Unfortunately, we probably won't be returning because I'm still cringing about having to pay so much for food I ended up throwing away.
And yeah, this place isn't clean. It's a little hot dog joint, not a palace, so I wasn't expecting much. But yikes, it felt really, really dirty and grungy. I'd hoped for so much better, because I love to patronize restaurants that serve vegetarians. RHL, please consider adding a real veggie dog to your menu!
Although I loved this place more when the previous owner was in charge, it's still the place to go for great vegetarian food. Sure, they have meat stuff for when you're going out with your meat-eating friends and family, but who cares about that? They can eat Chinese food anywhere. Us vegetarians have to watch out for meat in sauces and gravies, slipped into soups, etc. It makes going out for Chinese food a big pain. It's nice when my husband and I can go out and order what we want without any confusion or speculation--this stuff is real vegetarian, no fibs or nasty surprises. Plus it's good! Lots of delicious dishes to choose from. I love the soybean skin roll dishes, he loves the orange sue pao. There can be a language barrier at times, but it's workable. We go to Chia Shiang quite a bit, it's reliable and yummy. Their miso soup is good, their five-spice "duck" appetizer is fabulous, and their dishes are big enough to have leftovers for the next day. I'm getting hungry just thinking about eating there!
Let me begin by saying I love Tim Hortons and generally dislike every other donut shop out there (especially Krispy Kreme), so I'm biased. Timmy's has spoiled me forever. I've been to dozens of Tim Hortons in Michigan and Canada, and have never been disappointed. BUT, some locations have fresher donuts and better service than other (not that I've ever had bad service or stale donuts at any Timmy's). It's just that THIS one is the best I've tried. When they don't have chocolate dipped donuts on the rack, they just might make some for you special. I've gotten hot honey crullers here, which beat the pants off of hot Krispy Kreme donuts any day. Their iced cappuccinos are stellar. Service is friendly and fast. What more could I want? Okay, I'd like them to bring back their fabulous toffee glazed donuts. I miss those. If you're in the area of Rawsonville Rd and I-94 and you love Timmy's, check this one out.
I went here on a lark at the last minute, just half an hour before they closed, looking for a bridesmaid dress. I'd not found any that I'd liked at any other bridal shop, and I'd been to plenty.
The lovely staff were friendly and kind, and found me the perfect dress right off the bat--on sale, no less! The salesclerk I worked with seemed to really know what she was doing, was considerate of my body type, and had no problem pointing me towards a lower-priced gown that she knew would be the most flattering. She was patient and complimentary while I tried on a few others (just to be sure, of course) but in the end, I was sold on that first dress.
Even though I was only looking for a bridesmaid's dress and not a bridal gown, I was impressed by the bridal gowns I saw there. As I mentioned earlier, I'd visited a lot of bridal boutiques prior to this one, and had not previously seen any bridal gowns that I thought were pretty or even interesting. This shop had me curious, looking at the bridal gowns and admiring them, impressed by the workmanship and details, yet surprised that they weren't more expensive.
I would recommend this bridal boutique to anyone looking for gorgeous gowns, stellar service, and great prices. I'm over the moon for my dress!
