Jiffy Lube Service Center #23
Note: (This review could be directed to 5 out of the 6 shops in the area I have went to, The only reason I didn't list the sixth shop, because after the 5th shop I wasn't going through that again.) Jiffy Lube claims to help reduce the stress of everyday driving by having your wallet emptied when you drive into their shop. With their "Signature Oil Change" your left with just enough to buy a candy bar or a cup of coffee. I would have felt they could should offer way more discounts to regular customers. I had been going to jiffy lube for nearly 5 years, but I would get gipped at one and move to another. The over all impression of one shop doesn't mean its like this at another. However in this case, what happens at one shop continues over to another. The mechanics ask you things so fast, your unsure what he just said until you see the bill. Most of my experiences have been favorable, but as of late, the mechanic have left hoses lose, oil drain plugs lose and other issues I found out about later as I drove home.
Mr G's Fast Lane
Mr G's would be a better place to enjoy a sunday evening sitting under the canopies eating a sub and milk shake. Over the years Mr G's has remodeled and expanded. But the over all parking lot size is still the same, I recall Saturday night car shows, But nothing like this takes place anymore. Most of the hot roders tend to goto an ice cream pallor in Glen Burnie now, leaving a once historic land mark to fin for it self. With food this great, what are you waiting for?.. Create some new memories and drive that ole jalopy to Mr G's tonight.
Cedar Run At The Timbers
Security, unfriendly maintenance employees and the over all attitude and location of the area. Things might have been better. As a ex-police officer, I was offered to stay (rent free) in one of the apartments in order to "keep and eye on things". I knew of many instances where there was muggings, robberies, braking and entering, spousal abuse and even murders within the apartment's many complexes. For the short time I lived there I was called numerous times to ease an argument or warn another tenet of their lease agreement. Also keep a mindful eye on perverts and drug dealers. With a school just across the street, drug paraphernalia, broken bottles, and used condoms tend to litter the lots around the complex thus creating an unsafe environment for the children that live in the area. The list can on and on with the many issues I have compiled over the short amount of time I have lived there.
Libby Hill Seafood Restaurant
Every year about this time, We do what is called the "Libby Hill Run". Strictly head for a local Libby Hill Seafood Restaurant in Madison NC and enjoy a plate full of cat fish, flounder and shrimp. Not to mention cole slaw and hush puppies. But before we leave we order two gallons of fresh brewed ices tea to go. If you have a hunger for sea food, as we do. Head for one of the many Libby Hill Seafood restaurants today. Oh and by the way, here is a message to Libby Hill, "We are on our way, for yet another run. Hope to see you soon".
Cabela's
We had plan a trip to Cabela's for months. More often we could be seen shopping at Bass Pro for our camping and sporting needs. While In Wheeling WV we decided to stop in at the Cabela's. Little did we know there was a gas line leak, and the store was in an emergency lock down, News crews rushed to the scene just to catch a glimpse of the "action". Hardly any action at all. Just a few guys standing at the gas line repairing a valve. After the "danger" passed, My wife entered the store and headed right for the Camping gear. Asking the salesmen for some camping chairs made by GCI , The salesmen said "sure do" and walked back to the chair area. Needless to say, he didn't have the chairs and the other odds and end items we needs for our camping trip, He even tried to sell her some chairs we didn't need nor had the room in our jeep for. Yet two weeks before, While at Bass pro, I was able to locate all the items we needed but couldn't buy at that time. What a disappointment.
Royal Farms
The store Is sitting on a bad corner of Edmondson ave just beside I-695. The on and off ramps make or have made it easy for many attempts at robberies. The parking lot has allot to be desired, With the over all layout of the lot, you can see many vehicles "jockeying" for spots and many are left in the turn lanes beside the store. The sandwiches' are one of the main features to this Royal Farms store, Every morning they are hand made and to the freshest possible. If you can make your way past the many issues within the store grab a coffee and maybe a sandwich for later.
Edmondson Ave. Sunoco
I have been walking and taking my car to this service center for approx. 4 years for minor repairs. The Mechanics are always busy but seem to find time to help everyone out. As with any company, percents is a virtue and many people tend to forget there are others in front of them. The managers of this station are very helpful and knowledge about directions and other shops locations. With the upgrades recently made to the station, I feel it only has gotten better for everyone, Clear restrooms, Great coffee and a snack area that compares with the Royal Farm down the street.
Linville Falls Trailer Lodge and Campground
While traveling the blue ridge parkway, we decided to stop and camp out for a few nights. We had stayed at other camp sites up and down the parkway and even passed the Linville Falls Campground often. We decided to stop for the night. We weren't disappointed. the site are very private and quite. Our body's and soul's seem to drift into the forest surroundings and escape the everyday stress filled events. Listening and bird watch is your hobby?.. this is the place, often you can notice, many verities of birds including But not limited to: Indigo Buntings, Goldfinch, and Wood Thrush with an accessional song from a cat bird in the distance. After about 7:00 p.m. est the parkway slows down and you can finally hear your heart beat. So for a "real" escape try Linville Falls Campground today.
Caldron Crafts
Upon entering the shop I felt uneasy. due to the fact the ladies behind the counter were talking about witchcraft. I'm open to allot of things and beliefs, but opening discussing "what and whom to cast their spells on" didn't leave me with a first good impression. Later I learn they offered a "crash" courses for jewelry and wire wrapping. Which I felt was to expensive and noticed some "finished" designs in a display case that didn't impress me. However the stones, minerals. and crystals in the store were some great finds and the over all atmosphere was somewhat pleasant to me.
More Than Just Signs
We met Harlin for the first time. We had been interested in having a car show for a neighboring community center. She volunteered her signs and work to help with this event, and ever sense then she has been very helpful to us and others in need of signs. She offers great deals on all types of product to advertise your company or business. I still remain in contact with More Then Just Signs for all my sign and advertising needs. Although she moved to her new location not long ago, and it maybe somewhat harder to locate her shop (atop the hill on Amberton dr.) her sign deal more then make up for the location.
