Camp Bow Wow Anaheim Dog Daycare & Overnight Dog Boarding

Their location is very difficult to find, and their parking lot only has slots for maybe 3-4 cars. The pet areas are very bland and have no toys or beds. I believe this is to prevent possessive aggression, but daycare should be a place to modify unwanted behaviors such as that. They have live video cams set up so you can view your dogs playing from anywhere, but during the 45 minutes I observed the dogs, there was no staff supervision. The facility itself is new and very clean. 1 thing I really liked about this place is that unlike the majority of canine daycares in southern California, they offer both indoor and outdoor play areas for both large and small dogs. Theres no worries about your puppy forgetting his/her potty manners here!

Centinela Feed & Pet Supplies

Costa Mesa, CA Pet Stores 01/09/09: 'The best of the BEST!'

I LOVE this store. They are conveniently located near the freeways, have outstanding customer service, and a wonderful selection of pet supplies. This pet supply store is simply the BEST OF THE BEST. My friends and I drive over 30 minutes to stock up on our goods every couple months. In addition to all this, they do not sell any animals, promote animal adoptions by having rescue events, and host other special events like pet photography. I love it.

Alicia Pet Care Center

I have a few friends that rave about their clinic, and others that agree with me. Perhaps Dr. Wheaton and his staff have changed over the years, but I personally did not encounter a positive experience at Alicia Pet Care Center. I took my dog to Dr. Wheaton right when Dr. Hawkins started helping out at the clinic. My dog was a very laid back, calm girl that had no problems with boarding or hospital visits. However, after boarding her at Alicia Pet Care Center, she absolutely hated going back. I had never seen her act so fearful in my life, and really feel something must have traumatized her to impact her behavior so much.

Pet's Plus

Conveniently located inside a small plaza, Pets Plus has everything you need for your pet--they carry products for dogs, cats, birds, rodents, and fish. What I love is the variety of goods they carry. From food, toys, to bedding, they have an assortment of brands, colors, and styles. If they don't have it, ask if they can order it for you. They also have a store in San Clemente, and when I couldn't find what I wanted here, they had someone from the San Clemente store drop it off here the next day. I was impressed by the extremely fast delivery.

The staff is also very knowledgeable and extremely nice. They also hold low-cost vaccination clinics a couple times per month. I don't use them, but I always see the line of clients with their precious furkids awaiting to see the vet.

The only downfall is the price. I would have given them 5 stars if it weren't for the expensive prices. I see many of the products they carry sold at other places for much cheaper. But then again, I see plenty of other products that I have never ever seen at other natural petstores.

Pet Supply Warehouse

Mission Viejo, CA Pets & Animals - Mission Viejo, CA Pet Stores 08/19/07: 'They carry pretty much everything'

The store is truly a warehouse full of pet supplies. They carry so many brands and models that you are sure to find something that will suit you and your pet. I don't believe that they carry any products for any animals besides dogs and cats, but then again, I haven't really looked. Most of the staff is knowledgeable and very eager to help. The store is somewhat difficult to find amongst the buildings of businesses, but once you go there, you wont forget it.

I also love the fact that they sell no animals. With this, I know for a fact that my purchase doesn't go into supporting the puppy/kitten mill industry. They carry no dogs, cats, birds, rodents, fish, or any other type of animals. I love it.

Sand Bar Pet Shop

Years ago, I went to the Sand Bar Pet Shop to purchase a box turtle. The staff was extremely helpful and informative, or so I thought. It was my fault for not researching about the breed prior to my purchase, and relying too heavily on the pet store's staff; Yet, you would think that they would be knowledgable...wrong! I was misinformed, and eventually, my turtle became very ill. Because I was misinformed about something so serious as to jeaporadize and endanger my pet(she is healthy now), I would never recommend any purchases made from this store.

They also sell puppies and kittens, most of which are now the fashionable "designer" dogs. I try to steer clear of pet stores that sell animals, especially puppies and kittens, as much as possible.

Wags & Wiggles Dog Day Care

The facility and daycare itself is outstanding. The doggies are allowed to run, frolick, and socialize with other dogs of their same size. They have pools, playgrounds, and lots of toys! But, compared to the other daycares, they charge quite a bit more, and I myself, can't afford that. While other facilities charge $25 for the entire day, Wags and Wiggles charges $34. Wow. After awhile, it really adds up. There is usually a huge number of dogs in daycare, and while this may be good for dogs that love other dogs...it is alittle too much for other dogs that enjoy the company of dogs, but prefer human attention.

A couple months ago, I saved up money and had a private lesson with the facility's owner and head trainer. I am a knowledgeable dog owner and handler, and like to take private classes with different trainers to hear and learn about their different techniques and styles to enhance my own, training ability. The majority of her philosophy was excellent, but her approach and demeanor was a different story. She was extremely harsh, and severely criticized all of my prior training, knowledge, and actions. I agreed with her in some aspects, but didn't in others; Yet, she was very firm with her beliefs and didn't listen to my reasonings. A trainer should enhance a client's training ability and accept their varying thoughts and differences on training techniques--not degrade, critique, and censure. She was definately dog savvy, but not people savvy.

Though I was planning to save up money to bring my dogs to daycare, I really don't want to contribute and support her company after my experience. I tell all of my doggy friends to stay away.

Pet Suites

Pet Suites is a superb canine boarding facility that also offers grooming and daycare services. They take the dogs out for potty breaks 5-7 times a day, and there are absolutely no cages. The 'suites' are spacious for any sized dog, although you can pay extra for larger VIP rooms for your pet's added comfort. They have 2 separate areas for daycare--one for the larger dogs and the other for the smaller ones. My dogs attends Tiny Tots(small dog daycare), and is completely tuckered out by the time I pick him up. It allows socialization for your pup, while gives the owners a sense of comfort knowing that he's not bored at home, destroying your furniture. This place looks and smells great. Go in for a tour and see for yourself.

Wild's Animal Supplies

The store itself is conveniently located, and although the actual size of the store is small, they cram everything in, and seem to carry a variety of products.

If you have a specific product you like, and know what you're looking for, this store is great because they carry many products. BUT, if you wish to ask questions from a knowledgable staff, stay away.

Pet Junction

It's such a shame that this store has taken the route it has. Years ago, I used to be a frequent shopper of Pet Junction because it was one of the few stores that carried nutritious, "natural" petfood. Yet, in recent years, I was appalled to see that they had begun selling puppies and kittens. Right then and there, I made a promise to myself that I didn't want to support a store that supported the puppy mill industry. The puppies, not to mention, are unusually small for their breed(which probably makes them easier to sell), and appear weak. They sell the fashionable "designer" breeds such as malti-poos and puggles, yet the true "purebred" dogs don't quite resemble their breed...though the dogs mostly carry the characteristics and traits of the breed they are sold for, any knowledgeable person should be able to tell that there was something unusual, awkward, and different about the puppies. Their cute, but I doubt their 100% pure if you trace back into their lines.

Anyways, their customer service, if you could even call it that, is AWFUL. They used to have better, mature, knowledgeable staff but NOT ANYMORE. I don't mind that the staff consists of teenagers, but they really don't have any more animal knowledge than the common customer...which doesn't help. It's the attitude of the staff that really ticks me off. They are lazy and unwilling to help their customers AT ALL. I am extremely upset, and have now made a vow to NEVER, EVER step foot inside Pet Junction ever again. I'd rather drive the 20 extra minutes to go to the other, natural petstores.
