Bon-Bon Salon & Spa
Two months ago, I went to Bon Bon and sat down with a colorist and told him I wanted to cover my few grays. I suggested highlights, but very specifically told him I wanted a subtle look for my dark brown hair, meaning no blonde - I wanted a lighter brown. He nodded in agreement, but an hour and a half later, I came out looking like a two cent hooker.
I walked out in shock, and he tried to cover up his shock, too - something had gone horribly wrong. I had large swaths of orange/yellow hair, especially framing my face. He told me to come back after the weekend if I didn't like it ... I did come back, and the other colorist, Serge (who's good) tried his best to fix the mess with an application of toner. That was a temporary fix. Plus, I could no longer comb my hair after a shampoo. It was a dry, matted mess.
Two months later, I was getting brassier by the day and embarrassed to show up at work like that - people were staring at my orange hair and not saying anything - not a good sign. Yesterday I went to a local salon on Long Island to try to correct the mess - the colorist was amazed that a midtown salon had done such a job. She said the look was anything but subtle - that the guy at BonBon had done "blocking" on my hair and that it wouldn't have looked so bad if he had lightened thin strands of hair rather than huge wide areas - and that my only alternative would be to do semi-permanent color until the hair grew out.
I didn't even tell her that BonBon's snooty manager, "Tuta", had played interference and not let me speak with the owner as I had requested, and essentially told me that they couldn't do anything for me, that they would not refund the $166 that I had paid and that I would be getting their coupons in the mail, since I was on their mailing list. Tuta said all this, calling me "sweetheart" multiple times during the conversation, which I really resented. She made no suggestion that I meet with the owner so that the owner could actually see my hair disaster. The best she could muster was talking about coupons, as if I would ever go back. Not in a million years - these people need an attitude adjustment.
