This is a huge park that has different attractions at each end. On the Budd Avenue side there is a newly renovated playground featuring a very tall climbing tower complete with a variety of slides, bars, a rope bridge and even a tire swing. This area is fairly well shaded and a great place for play dates. Also on this side of the park are several larger areas that are reservable for company or school events. It's best to reserve several months in advance through the City of Campbell website.
On the Rincon Avenue side of the park there are more playsets and climbing areas and a water park that is wonderful for little ones in the summer.
My oldest son attended Camp Caterpiller one summer when he was 7 and really enjoyed it a lot. It's a fun day camp that meets at area parks throughout the week. Kids engage in a variety of sports activites, crafts and also get to explore a variety of parks. They meet at a specific park, then travel to other nearby parks in Saratoga, including a trip to Villa Montalvo. At the end of the week, the kids put on a play that they've been working on and there is a family barbeque.
In addition to day camp, the City of Saratoga has a catalog full of summer classes that meet for several hours. MY youngest son took the Engineering Fundamentals class that meets at the Warner Hutton House and loved it. They were busy making Lego creations all week and experimented with levers, gears, etc. Great fun for Lego lovers. They also have a Lego Robotics class for older kids.
I took one of my cats here when she was a year old. The office staff is very pleasant and the vet we saw was informative and people-oriented. That said, I found that one of the cons of going here is that they immediately try and market you "specials". For example, she was pretty aggressive about trying to get me to buy a blood panel to test for basic problems. I have never been marketed this elsewhere and did not think this service was appropriate for a one year old cat. Although the price for the test was discounted, I did not appreciate being marketed to and felt that the test was unnecessary.
I used to take my youngest son here and he loved sitting in the cars, watching cartoons and getting his hair cut. Pricing is reasonable and it's great to have a salon so close that caters well to children.
While we usually go to the Florentines in Cupertino with the kids, this location is my preferred one for meeting up with a friend. Located right off of Big Basin Way, it offers good food and generous portions. Their Pasta Pomodoro is excellent. It's fun to have lunch here then go walking afterwards to explore the local shops.
This is a great place for birthday parties or days out with the kids and is suitable for ages 4 and up. It is a bit pricey, but worth it if you want to invite a large group of kids. They have 2 large rooms full of inflatable bounce houses, slides, obstacle courses and even a boxing arena (complete with inflatable gloves). Most kids love this place will definitely sleep well when they get home! If you have a party here, they provide pizza and drinks and a party room. You can even bring your own music.
Safe Haven Animal Santuary is a no kill shelter for cats and dogs. They specialize in rescuing and providing homes for feral cats and have even built a feral cat compound in which they house hundreds of cats. They are sponsored by area companies and are staffed entirely by volunteers. They feature their pets at area adoption fairs (see their web site for details). They provide resources and information on trapping, spaying/neutering and releasing feral cats. Their adoption fees include spaying/neutering and basic shots and is comparable to those of other area shelters (around $100).
In this day in age, it's great to see that a neighborhood/non-chain store can still thrive by providing excellent service. Pets and More fits the bill and will even order the items you need. Try asking for that at PetSmart or Petco! They also throw kids birthday parties for a reasonable price and seem to love educating people about pets, pet care. etc.
Dr. Liu delivered both of my children. He is very personable and always invites you into his office after a visit to talk and explain any situations, options, etc. He works with a group of doctors and nurse practitioners and their group offers and excellent level of service. They specialize in OB GYN services including fertility treaments, etc. and are conveniently located behind Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City.
I took my youngest son to meet Dr. Joe Cirone (one of several excellent doctors at this location) for the first time when he was due to get all of those pre-k shots. Dr. Joe spent quite a bit of time talking with him and put him at ease. Although getting all of those shots is never pleasant, he did fine. He answered all of our questions and also did a thorough pre-k assessment. The waiting area has some excellent books and interactive toys.
