This is a fun place to go after skiing or hiking. They have good pizza and surprisingly great sushi. The guy behind the counter doesn't look like your average sushi chef but he does a great job! Some nights they have music and they usually have a fire going. Just a fun place for beer, food and meeting friends.
I was expecting a really good martini from this place but was very disappointed. I went in with a few friends and sat at the bar to try a few different martinis. The bar tender was rude and inattentive and the drinks were nothing special. One of my friends received a martini that was barely half full and had little alcohol added. I did enjoy the key lime martini but won't be going there again.
The food is great! I love the salmon. Too bad the smoke from the bar seeps through the whole restaurant. If I'm in a bar I can deal with smoke. But when I'm trying to have nice dinner I don't want to smell smoke. If they could separate the bar from the dinning room better it would be a great place to eat.
I have been going here for years and it is always good. The owner is very nice and tries very hard to make you happy. I love the Bi Bim Bop. The only time I didn't like it was when I mistakenly got the sizzling rice dish and didn't intend to. It was too crispy for my taste. Everything else I have had including the side dishes have always been great.
For Ann Arbor this is the best sushi place in town. The fish is always prepared well and tastes fresh. Some of their special rolls have too much sauce for my taste. I like to taste more fish than sauce. But for the most part this is a good place for sushi or sashimi. I really like their non-spicy rolls and plain sushi. The salad seems to have way too much dressing but the miso soup is great. It is a very relaxing and unrushed atmosphere.
I have been to the chop house a few times. The steak is very good, I especially love the Oscar style added to the steak. However, I would only recommend this if you are in the mood for steak. I ordered the crab cakes once and my first bite was full of shell. I complained and they said it is always hard to get out shell. Maybe they should advertise that they are lazy is their seafood preparation. I have made crab cakes myself and it does take time to make sure there is no shell, but it can be done. Their specialty is obviously steak. I wouldn't waste time or money on anything else.
