As a beginner in the world of ceramics, I have found Waterstone Ceramics and Pottery to be a great place to learn. The owner, Stacey, is patient and helpful and makes the process fun. Last year I took my nieces in to paint their own tea sets for a Christmas gift. They turned out beautifully and the whole experience was a lot of fun.
My son has dealt with this company for the last several months as he completed his Eagle Scout project. We ordered a large quantity of engraved bricks for a memorial pathway and have found them to be beautifully done. Cost per brick is around $19 so it would be affordable for a variety of applications.
This is the "testing ground" for students in the Aesthetics program at Miami Jacobs Career College. I recently had a facial and it was a wonderful experience. The best part? The price! Because they are students, the prices for hair care, massages, manicures, etc. can't be beaten!
In a time when gas can easily cost over $3.00 per gallon, it is good to know where you can buy cheap gas! The Starfire station just about always has the lowest prices in town and they are usually the last to raise prices when it does go up.
This store is packed with all kinds of professional sports team gear--clothing, home accessories, everything you can think of. Lots of Ohio State items--big surprise!--but plenty of your favorite team too!
Gemini Wireless has a great selection of cell phone companies and plans. They offer Cricket, T Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, Nextel and other big names. The sales staff seem to know their products, but aren't necessarily the friendliest bunch.
Duck Duck Goose has a wonderful selection of high end children's clothing. They carry great name brands and have things that you can't find anywhere else. They do tend to be a little pricey, but you get what you pay for!
The Tackle Shack is a great place to go if you are into outdoor sports like hunting, target shooting, fishing, or archery. My sons and my husband have been involved in their leagues for archery for years. The owner/operators are almost always on site for adjustments, service, and good advice and their indoor range is a great place to sharpen shooting skills in the winter.
This quaint little shop is the best kept secret in Troy. I go here often when I need a special gift for someone on my list. They offer a wide variety of home decor, baby gifts, candles and stationary.
I was so disappointed in the performance I saw by the Human Race Theatre Company. I took my American Lit class to see Huck Finn and was told by the reservationist that it was family oriented. All the literature led me to believe the same thing. We ended up leaving in the middle of the performance due to some raunchy scenes that I believe were poorly interpreted by the producers of this musical. The actors were talented, the singing was great, but the racy interpretation was not for me.
