Wine Shop
Great wine store specializing in wines from the local region. They have a tasting area in the back with usually a lot of wines open. The owner is super friendly and gives you his personal guarantee on each bottle you purchase.
Prices are a bit high, but to be expected with the area.

Mac Callum House Inn
The atmosphere at dinner is very nice - dark, quiet, romantic. The food has a bit left to be desired - it's not great for the prices you pay.
Breakfasts at MacCallum house are much better than dinner - by far the best place in Mendocino for breakfast!

Stevenswood Lodge
Beautiful lodge right outside of the town of Mendocino (only about a 5 minute drive).
We stayed here over Christmas in 2006 and were so pleased with the resort. There's only a dozen or so rooms in the whole place, but you feel like you're truly the only ones there. The suites are enormous and have a large sitting area outside the bedroom.
Breakfast is included in the restaurant downstairs and is worth the trip just for that.

Cafe Beaujolais
I love this restaurant! Best dinner place in Mendocino!
The atmosphere is quiet, yet bustling. Located in a converted house with hardwood floors and beautiful details throughout.
Great wine list featuring local Anderson County wineries.
Order the sturgeon - it's by far the most popular item on the menu (for good reason).
Tip: make reservations before you get to Mendocino - they book up in advance.

Thaiphoon Restaurant
Off the main street in Palo Alto, so it's not usually busy and there's usually no wait. Great Thai food in an interesting atmosphere.
Full bar with decent wines.
Order the Fried tofu, Satay, and Penang Curry!

Palo Alto Coffee Roasting Company
Great coffee shop for grabbing something while you're shopping around Stanford Mall. Around the holidays, they always have special coffees that you can't beat. There is usually a line, but service moves quite fast.

Isobune Burlingame
Sushi joint that is just "okay". It's fine for if you're craving sushi, but I wouldn't go out of my way to try it. Good location right on the Ave, fine basic rolls.

Abc Sea Food Restaurant
They have a nice won ton soup, but that's pretty much it. It's pricey for a Chinese restaurant and the service is lousy. I walked in to get something "to go" and it took 5 minutes before anyone came over to me (they were all there, just talking to each other).

Fresh Choice
Massive salad bar restaurant. Lots of nice healthy food, but there's so much there that most people have a tendency to overeat when they go. Cheap prices - good if you're starving and want to stuff yourself on green veggies.

Burlingame Foods
This place is fine for an emergency - like if you run out of milk or beer, or need a lime. However, I wouldn't do all of my grocery shopping here - the prices are much, much higher than a supermarket
