I love visiting Thornes Marketplace just because of this jewelry counter. They have very unique earrings, necklace pendants, and bracelets. I found an awesome green baked glass pendant with a silver chain for only $9.00. Another time I found a fossilized shell pendant with a purple stone inset for less than $20.00. The quality of the jewelry is great, and it is inexpensive. I get so many compliments on the pieces that I have purchase here, because they are so original! If you like silver jewelry, funky stones, and unique settings, then you should check this place out.
If I'm trying to find a CD in Northampton this is the first place that I go. They have an excellent array of used music that is constantly changing. They also have many new releases available as well, and support many local artists by having their Cd's on the shelf.
I love going into Verde during the holiday season. They have a unique mix of things for your home or garden. They also have an interesting selection of books, and very pretty Christmas ornaments.
Any time that I am looking for an original present I look at Faces first! They have a great selection of memorable cards, funny magnets, cool clothes, and lots of little things that you may not need- but would love to buy.
I love bueno. They have the best quesadillas and burritos in the area. The service is always fast and they are very friendly. I love their guacamole too!
If you are looking for a place to go for dinner that is casual but classy, and that has food that is unbelievable but affordable... then you should try the Sierra Grille. You are able to enjoy beer or wine with your dinner, and many of the meals are a la carte. Some of the sides range from smashed potatoes that change daily (my favorite was asiago and arugula), homemade smoked mac and cheese, sourdough bread with oil and vinegar, asian-style greenbeans, and an artisan cheese plate with crackers and fresh fruit. They have panini sandwiches, fresh salads, and main entree dishes that range from duck to salmon. This is a spot right in the center of Northampton, across from the tunnel bar, that my friends and I frequent. I highly recommend this restaurant!
The tunnel bar is a renovated tunnel below the Union Station Restaurant where they serve the best martinis around. If you are looking for a place to go with friends to relax after a long work week, you've found it. The bartenders are extremely friendly. You can sit at the bar, or sit with several people in oversized leather chairs that are set up along the length of the tunnel. There is always smooth jazz or other music playing in the background. I highly recommend the "blue moon martini" or ask them to make you a pear martini (it's not on the menu... but so good).
