Sophias is another little local Italian place. The food is good and it became a common choice for our group while visiting the town.
There is a nice, cozy atmosphere, and the employees are usually very friendly. I'm always sure to order the tiramisu when we go!
I was pleasantly surprised by this little Italian cafe. The pizza was awesome! If ordering by the slice, get more than one because they are very thin. My friend loved the lasagna, but our other friend didn't like the spaghetti so much. The breadsticks got rave reviews!
After dinner, they have an excellent selection of gelato and cakes. There's also a good coffee menu.
The restaurant itself is small so it can feel a little cramped, but it was bright and cheery so the atmosphere was good anyway. I'll be going back often!
Dan McGuiness has a cool atmosphere, with big wooden bench seating and a small TV at each booth. There was live music when we went, and I really liked that the band was playing in section separate from the dining area. That way we could have dinner conversation without yelling.
Great place to go with friends, although the food is a bit expensive. It's good though, and the dessert is even better!
This place is easy to overlook in Dobie Mall, but give it a try! They make great gyros right when you order, and the price is very reasonable. A good meal when you're in the mood for something different.
I love going to Niki's Pizza, because the owner and employees are always so friendly! The pizza is awesome too! It's the closest I've had to New York pizza in Texas.
Pluckers wings are awesome, and I love their fries! This location is small and has a really fun, local feel. The service is ok, although it's been bad a few times. It's the best place for wings in Austin though, especially late at night.
Epoch is still relatively unknown, although the people who know about it don't seem to leave! This is the best place to study late at night, because that's the primary reason people seem to be there--especially during midterms. However, it gets packed in the evening and it can be hard to grab a table.
Sometimes the employees turn the music up really loud, so be sure to bring headphones and music of your own.
Our organization books the outdoor stage at Scholz regularly for a special meeting with skit performances. We always have a lot of fun, and the folks working there are great to put up with such a large crowd.
The food is ok, although we mainly go for the atmosphere. If there isn't parking available on the street, there's a garage just a block away.
Spider House is a great place to hang out, with good coffee and a unique atmosphere. I've found it a little too busy for trying to study, but it's perfect for sitting and chatting with friends. It can be hard to find parking, especially at night.
This is a fun place to eat, especially after all the other restaurants close. The food is great and the fried pickles are famously delicious. I'd recommend stopping by at least once while in Austin. However, the prices are outrageous so I make it a rare visit.
